It’s been a great summer. My friend, Jeni from Jeni Eats and I both knew we were going to be moving this summer and somewhere along the way we coined the #FarewellTour2015 hashtag. If truth be known I think it might have been the Computer Guy who actually said it first and it kind of stuck. So that is what we did.
We did a Farewell Tour to match no other. Jeni has already moved and is getting settled in her new place in St. Louis and I was left in Mason City for another month after she left so my tour continued a bit longer. I suspect by the time I leave people are going to be happy to see no more #FarewellTour2015 posts.
But indulge me and let me share just a few of the things that we did over the past couple of months.
We spent a little time visiting our friend Amy Hild’s gravesite and enjoyed some ice cream at The Viking Drive Inn where she used to work. It was a fun time watching the kids running around and enjoying their ice cream. Nothing makes me smile more than seeing little ones totally enjoy an ice cream cone.
Blogger friend Alicia from Fit and Farm gave Jeni and I the most amazing picture frame complete with multiple pictures of the North Iowa Bloggers which will always have a special place in my home.
I gave a lot of stuff away. A lot. It was great fun to see some of our belongings that we no longer needed going to some of my favorite people in the whole wide world.
A lot of other stuff just simply got hauled away in a dumpster but it was time to do that. It was long overdue.
I said goodbye to my good friends at KCMR. Being a part of the KCMR family for the last year has been such a wonderful thing for me. I was able to spend a bit of time almost every Tuesday morning with Cynthia talking about what was going on on my blog and we truly became great friends. Bill Schickel was the man who brought us together and I will always be grateful to him for reaching out to me and suggesting we do this.I ate at Pasta Bella one last time with some of my blogging buddies again. Yum. Great food and always great service.
I got my last hair cut and color by Paula at Kush Salon. Not only did I have a great visit I got presents! Paula got me a Puppy Chow Cupcake and these lovely place card holders and tea mug. I am feeling so spoiled.
Katy of Learning As I Go gave me this amazing photo cube with a lot of great photos of some of our blogging fun.
Several of us spent a night in Clear Lake taking in dinner at The Landing and going on a cruise on The Lady of the Lake. This has always been on my list of things to do and I just had not gotten around to doing it yet. It was a perfect night with a great group of ladies.
One more selfie shot of the whole group on The Lady of the Lake.
A few of us did the River City Sculptures on Parade in downtown Mason City. It was so fun and there will be posts later on those but we made the most of the day and got some great pictures including this one of Donna, Jeni and I with Mr. Eggwards.
I even fit in a trip to eat at Las Palmas in Mason City with Donna and Katy.
The time is coming when there will be no more #FarewellTour2015 pictures and posts but it has been a lot of fun to do all of the things that I have been able to cram in between the organizing and preparing for the move. So as I close this post I share a picture of Chris and I and one of our “finds” while we were cleaning out. Looks like we are going “home”.
And a late entry – a visit to Natural Plus Nursery to see Mary and Dave and Lena and Maggie, of course! Puppy kisses are the best.

Leave a commentWhat a great post about your Farewell Tour!!! We will truly miss you here in North Iowa!!!
Thank you so much, Joy. It was so fun to have you join some of the goodbye events. I am not gonna lie–it is going to be hard to leave my blogger friends but hopefully I will see you at events down the road!
The Farewell Tour was a lot of fun. I just wish we didn’t have all this fun because the two of you were moving. I am really excited for you to be with “dad” and to hear about your new adventures. 🙂
What a great farewell tour. I’m glad I was in on it. Love the pillows. They are perfect colors and patterns for me and my living room.
I am so happy they are feeling at home in Faribault. I just had a feeling they would. Thank you for letting me stop in on Saturday. It was a great visit and I was happy to be able to give you one more hug in person!
I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that you and Chris get to share a home again…in the same state! 🙂 But, I’m going to miss you so much! I’m so thankful that you have been brought into my life and I can’t wait to read all about your NC adventures and beyond! I’m so glad we were able to cram one last meal in! Hugs to you always!!
I love the puppy kiss photo. Katy and Alicia’s North Iowa Bloggers gifts are sitting on my new desk. They make me feel less homesick! You totally got this move.
The puppy kisses were fabulous. Glad your new gifts found a home as well. Mine will be on my desk when we move as well.
Fare Well my friend and Fare Well as you go forward in life. Go forth and find friendships, laughter, new adventures and make many more memories. Thanks again for making so many ripples in North Iowa.
Thank you so much, Ozzie. I loved how we connected and how much you do for the community. thank you for all of that and for your sweet words.
You are doing what I did a year ago when we were getting ready to move to Spain. It is hard to leave good friends but leaving with great memories is perfect. Of course you will still keep in touch.
It is a lot of fun but work at the same time. And a lot of emotions! It is a good way to re evaluate things as well. I have had the luxury of having a couple of months to get the stuff ready, too, which has helped a lot.
I’m so happy I’ve been able to be apart of parts of the #FarewellTour2015. Hey, it is a long hashtag, so it has to last awhile… 😉
Thanks, Val!!! It was great to be able to have some time with you as well! Gonna miss you!
The fruit looks delicious!
It was really good. You know how sometimes fruit in restaurants is so so ? This was not the case here.
