Now that we have the wedding over with and done (sniff, sniff), the house kind of back to normal after multiple guests and events it is time to focus on Comments for a Cause on It’s Just Life. As always I look forward to the first of the month and I find that my Comments for a Cause posts are my most popular ones. Everyone wants to know what’s up next which is a very good thing.

But before I get too carried away – what about our September cause? Donors Choose is a fabulous organization that allows folks to make donations through their secure website to help fund classroom projects. I have helped fund several projects over the years and love seeing how those projects come to life for the students. Whether it is helping to purchase special books for the classroom or funding organizers or cozy reading nooks it is all an important part of the education process. Donors Choose makes it extremely easy to find a teacher to help and the bonus comes when those students send adorable thank you letters. I am thrilled to announce that due to all of the comments on the blog this past month Chris and I will be making a donation of $150 to Donors Choose to help fund more projects.

One of the best things about where we live is the generous spirit of the people who live in our community. The volunteerism and giving spirit is one of the things that I love most about Connestee Falls. I belong to a Ladies Luncheon group and this year they are trying to expand their reach to beyond our gates and I am really excited about it. Even though it is not a “traditional” Comments for a Cause I decided that this was the cause for the month so here we go.
The Ladies Luncheon group will be doing a clothing collection during the month of October to help benefit our local school children. Many of the population in Transylvania county struggle financially and the children are often the ones who suffer the most when there isn’t enough money to go around. Even though our weather is not brutally cold like in many northern states it can still get plenty chilly and many of the children and youth in our area just do not have adequate clothing to wear during those cold snaps. The Ladies Luncheon group will be doing a clothing drive to provide items that the local schools have recommended that we provide. Our collection will focus mainly on warm coats and underwear for the younger school children as that is a real need. With every comment made on It’s Just Life this month Chris and I will donate 50 cents to be used towards the purchase of items for this clothing drive. I am excited to see how much we will be donating to help our local students stay warm during the colder months.
As always, a huge thank you to all who take the time to read and leave a comment over the month. It really does mean a lot to me and hopefully I will be able to focus a bit more on answering comments than I did during the past couple of weeks. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Leave a commentSuch a worthy cause (as are all of the ones you choose!). You have such a giving heart!
Thank you so much! I am pretty excited about this one because it is really needed around here. I can’t imagine my child not having a warm coat and if we can help a little bit it will be a good thing!
Both are great causes. But I especially appreciate the upcoming clothing drive. We have one in Faribault also as so many families struggle, among them immigrant families. Here in Minnesota, warm winter coats are much-needed. Thank you for supporting this cause and to all those involved in it in your county.
Great cause again. We support coat drives here too because winter is pretty cold and I can’t bear the thought of a child (or adult either for that matter) without a warm coat.
I think most people have a loving spot in their hearts especially for children. There are so many precious children that need our help. Thank you, Beth Ann, for choose this one.
I hope you get a lot of comments this month! Thanks again for doing this.
What a great idea!
As always a great cause to share with everyone!
