What a Good Life

Leave a Comment/ 7/ 0

Cleaning, sorting and culling. That’s my life. It should have been my life for a long time but hey — I am doing it now and I have learned a great deal as a result.

The number one thing I have learned is –what a great life I have had so far. It’s actually pretty amazing.

Front and foremost — my siblings. Today I was telling a friend about my siblings and it got me to thinking about how great they actually are. I am the baby of 4 and love my brothers and older sister more than words can say. We support each other through thick and thin and since we no longer have parents that are alive that connect us, we have made a conscious choice to make sure that we keep those bonds close.

As I sort and sift, I find pictures that make me smile. Especially the pictures of us as children. My dad was very good at taking pictures of all of us. His documentation of us at various ages is really priceless.

This year Chris and I were unable to make it to our yearly week at Lakeside, Ohio and my sister got Aaron to photoshop me into the annual “Sibling Picture at Lakeside”. Never mind that he used a picture of me where my hair was windblown and crazy. I love the sentiment and it made me love my siblings even more.

Old Girls in Low Cotton
by Helen Childress
This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
