What I Am Reading – Vacation Edition

18 Comments/ 554/ 0

So this week we are at Lakeside and one of my favorite activities- reading- is high up on the list of things to do. We are renting a place very close to the center of the little town and just a few short steps to the lakefront which is pretty wonderful. There is a bench at the end of our street that sits in the sunshine overlooking Lake Erie and I have found myself on that bench several times already.

So my list for the week is extensive and eclectic. Some are audiobooks, some e books and some just old fashioned paper books but they are all fair game. I always pack A LOT of books when I travel and love to be able to pick and choose according to my mood.

On the drive here Chris and I listened to Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and we LOVED it. My friend Beth recommended it and to listen to the audio book and it was fabulous. Chris wanted to skip ahead and cheat but I wouldn’t let him. I did speed it up a bit so we could finish it on our drive but it is definitely a fun book to listen to.

Another book that I finished this week was Happiness Falls by Angie Kim. It was a good read but I got a little lost in some of it and didn’t really feel drawn into it like I have other books. But that’s okay. It was a good book and worth the time.

The next book on my list was Magic Hour by Kristen Hannah. This is one of her older books written in 2010 and I liked it but wasn’t as in love with it as I have been with some of her more recent offerings. I loved The Great Alone and The Four Winds and was looking forward to one like those two but this one fell a bit short in my humble opinion.

So now I am working my way through my stack of books that include a pretty fun assortment of books. First up is I Work at a Public Library – A Collection of Crazy Stories from the Stacks. It is proving to be very entertaining.

I am also starting The Book Eaters which is proving to be a book that is definitely not my normal reading genre and I am not sure I am going to stick with it but we shall see. I might be able to finish it. It is about people who survive by eating books and they retain the content of whatever book they read. Interesting concept but it is really stretching me.

I still have a stack of other books including this one – The World’s Strongest Librarian -A Book Lover’s Adventure which is about a librarian with Tourette syndrome which looks really interesting. I can’t wait to dive into that one as well.

Of course my book bag is filled to the brim but these are just a few that I wanted to share today that will be read during my vacation. What are you reading? I would love to know so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause for Allied Whale Adopt a Whale.

Old Girls in Low Cotton
