Maksim went to the groomer Tuesday and everything went downhill once we got home.
Holly (aka Grumpy Senior Cat) puts up with him and his antics for only so long. But give him a bath and get him all fresh smelling and she was having nothing to do with him.

He walked by. She growled.
He sat on the back of the couch giving himself another bath while she sat on my lap on the couch and she hissed.
He doesn’t smell right.
She has always been this way. I remember when Buddy was so sick and had to spend time at the emergency vet over the weekend. It took WEEKS for her to not hiss at him when he came home and he was her brother. Good grief.

So please, any advice for a grumpy old calico who thinks her housemate smells funny? It’s gonna be World War lll here pretty soon I am afraid.

Leave a commentAnimals are funny that way. They like thier housemates to smell au naturel. I´m sure Maksim will be back to his regualr smell soon. xo
It’s so interesting to me how pets react to smells. I know Audrey is always like “hey, where were you?” If we come home smelling of other dogs. I can’t wait to see how her and Sunny‘s relationship develops over time. Unfortunately, I have no good advise for you about how Holly is reacting.
Hmmm. No advice. Sorry. Just protect yourself. 🙂
Aw… time will make it better!
Who would think the smell would make a difference. They will be pals again before you know it.
Some cat bloggers deal with this by taking both cats to the vet so they come home smelling the same. They only seem to do this with two cats. Don’t know what they do if they have more .I do have more, and they are on their own when they come home from the vet. But none of mine seem to be bothered by this.
Well Miss Holly is going to have to figure it out! She is short hair and doesn’t need the grooming Maksim needs. She will calm down in a day or so but holy cow— what a grump!
We used to have a cat named Smokey. She was pretty antisocial but mostly ignored our dog Bonnie. Except when Bonnie came bac from the groomer. Than she’d sit on her cat condo and swipe at the poor dog every time she walked by. She’d hiss and swat at her. I finally asked the groomer if they had non perfumed shampoo and once they used that the cat left the dog alone. Now…when I got back from getting my hair cut and colored…well….Smokey didn’t like me either.
