Basket of Thanks – Giving Back

9 Comments/ 77/ 1

Giving back is important to me.  You might have figured that out from my Comments for a Cause series here on It’s Just Life.

My friend, Val, who blogs over at Corn Beans Pigs and Kids shared a great idea with her Facebook friends and I decided to do the same type of thing this year for all of our delivery folks.

USPS, UPS and Fed Ex drivers work really long hours during the holidays. Chris and I do a ton of online shopping and as a result we have a lot of packages that get delivered during this time.  I always try to give a small gift to the mail folks but it is usually hit or miss with the other delivery drivers.

This year I have put out the basket of goodies and cooler of drinks along with a sign telling all of our delivery folks to help themselves.

And they have.  Each day a few items are gone and it makes my heart happy to share a snack with them during their busy season.

Today the FedEx driver even left me a message.

I need to make a new sign–it got rained on and is a little damp and wimpy.

All it takes is one small gesture to show appreciation and during busy times it really is important to me to go out of my way to show folks that they are appreciated.  Thanks to Val for the idea!  I may have to make this a yearly tradition.

Isn’t it a great idea? I love it and is easier than trying to catch them when they have deliveries like I usually do. This way they can just take what then want when they stop by!

This is a great idea. I’m sure the delivery people are working overtime. I love how you have ice cubes in your drink bucket. Our streets are covered in ice;)

What a great idea, Val. And how wonderful that you are following her example. I’m sure your delivery drivers appreciate this, as evidenced by that note. Expressing kindness now days is so important in a world that has way too much unkindness.

That is an amazing idea. We get a lot of packages too. Online shopping has so simplified life and this is such a nice way to say Thanks. 🙂

Whaaaat? Whaaaaat? You have snow? Here in the central we haven’t had any of that yet… I saw on the news yesterday that somebody else did this same thing with chocolates etc. And they caught a chubby squirrel stealing the goods. Hahaha so cute & funny. Happy holidaze!
