Chihuly at The Biltmore

25 Comments/ 1794/ 1

Chihuly glass amazes me.

The colors. The shapes. The depth of each piece.

I find myself just in awe of the talent of the artist.

You may remember that I wrote a post sharing my love of the Chihuly pieces that I saw at The Bellagio in Las Vegas.  You can read that post by clicking here.

I loved that exhibit but honestly the exhibit at The Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina is so much more amazing because it is an outdoor installation.  I can not wrap my head around the fact that these delicate pieces of glass are outside.  In the weather.  In the wind and rain.  And still they look beautiful and amazing.  Resilient and resplendent in their beauty.

So this post will be short on text and long on pictures but I think you can understand why.  Because the pictures speak more than a thousand words each and definitely do not even begin to do the art work justice.

So many pictures are being taken during this exhibit which runs through October.  The Biltmore is asking for pictures to be tagged with #ChihulyatBiltmore across social media and I bet their numbers are through the roof.

Daytime viewing is included in the admission price of the house tour and we discovered that the displays were brilliant and definitely a bonus .

There are even a couple of displays in Antler Hill Village which is another area of the Biltmore estate to explore.

A night tour is also available to view the works of art illuminated which Chris is treating me to for our anniversary in July.  There is an additional charge for that night tour and I can not wait to see it for myself.  I have seen pictures from others and I think it will be spectacular.

For more information on the exhibit which runs through October 7th, 2018 check out their website.

Which of these is your favorite?  I would love to hear about it in the comments.  Remember all comments this month mean a 50 cent donation to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund . The end of the month is coming up so please comment often to raise money for this worthy cause.

Oh, my…… breathtaking works of art! And I agree: it’s hard to imagine something so delicate surviving the elements. I can’t wait to see your photos from your July visit. Yay, Chris! What a special Anniversary gift!

It is really amazing. I love how the Biltmore is always coming up with great ideas to get us to all come back (and spend $) time and time again. I will be back multiple times during this exhibit, that is for sure.

Live it. We saw an outdoor installation in 2010 at a big garden in Michigan. Would love to see this one too.

These are really amazing and it’s hard to wrap your mind around the work that went into each piece and then to see them displayed like this outside is just awesome. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can make in to Asheville at least for a day so I can see it with my own eyes. 🙂

I hope you guys can make it as well. I would love to meet up with you and have another look at them as well. If you do come plan to visit for the entire day to be able to see everything and make the trip really memorable.

Seeing his display in Seattle, the outdoor “garden” portion is overwhelming! Agree–the fact that all these fantastic creations are positioned in a setting exposing them to the elements defies common sense! Definitely a “must see”!!!!

We have not seen the Seattle exhibit but have heard all about it. It just boggles my little mind to think about putting these things together and all the work that goes into an exhibit like this. Thanks for stopping by!

Maybe the green cones that look vaguely like ferns? I remember watching a glassblower at work as an attraction in North Carolina, but…wow!

Wow!!! What incredible art! The glass is just exquisite! Thanks so much for sharing these! Some pieces have been on display in Columbus at the Franklin Park Conservatory, but I haven’t seen anything like this. I am very drawn to the balls in the water. Lovely!!! So glad that you got to enjoy this!
