Chihuly glass amazes me.
The colors. The shapes. The depth of each piece.
I find myself just in awe of the talent of the artist.
You may remember that I wrote a post sharing my love of the Chihuly pieces that I saw at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. You can read that post by clicking here.
I loved that exhibit but honestly the exhibit at The Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina is so much more amazing because it is an outdoor installation. I can not wrap my head around the fact that these delicate pieces of glass are outside. In the weather. In the wind and rain. And still they look beautiful and amazing. Resilient and resplendent in their beauty.
So this post will be short on text and long on pictures but I think you can understand why. Because the pictures speak more than a thousand words each and definitely do not even begin to do the art work justice.
So many pictures are being taken during this exhibit which runs through October. The Biltmore is asking for pictures to be tagged with #ChihulyatBiltmore across social media and I bet their numbers are through the roof.
Daytime viewing is included in the admission price of the house tour and we discovered that the displays were brilliant and definitely a bonus .
There are even a couple of displays in Antler Hill Village which is another area of the Biltmore estate to explore.
A night tour is also available to view the works of art illuminated which Chris is treating me to for our anniversary in July. There is an additional charge for that night tour and I can not wait to see it for myself. I have seen pictures from others and I think it will be spectacular.
For more information on the exhibit which runs through October 7th, 2018 check out their website.

Leave a commentOh, my…… breathtaking works of art! And I agree: it’s hard to imagine something so delicate surviving the elements. I can’t wait to see your photos from your July visit. Yay, Chris! What a special Anniversary gift!
It is really amazing. I love how the Biltmore is always coming up with great ideas to get us to all come back (and spend $) time and time again. I will be back multiple times during this exhibit, that is for sure.
Live it. We saw an outdoor installation in 2010 at a big garden in Michigan. Would love to see this one too.
It is really amazing. Of course pictures do NOT do it justice.
These are really amazing and it’s hard to wrap your mind around the work that went into each piece and then to see them displayed like this outside is just awesome. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can make in to Asheville at least for a day so I can see it with my own eyes. 🙂
I hope you guys can make it as well. I would love to meet up with you and have another look at them as well. If you do come plan to visit for the entire day to be able to see everything and make the trip really memorable.
Seeing his display in Seattle, the outdoor “garden” portion is overwhelming! Agree–the fact that all these fantastic creations are positioned in a setting exposing them to the elements defies common sense! Definitely a “must see”!!!!
We have not seen the Seattle exhibit but have heard all about it. It just boggles my little mind to think about putting these things together and all the work that goes into an exhibit like this. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow! I was hoping to take the kids sometime this summer and had no idea these were on display now. Something else to look forward to!
It is SO worth a trip! Enjoy!
Breathtaking! We get to go in August!!
Make sure you let me know when you are coming and I will try to meet you for lunch or something!
Simply amazing!! You are so lucky to see this and I’m sure the evening display will be just as fabulous. Funny, I saw a Facebook post on setting up this display earlier and thought of you, before I saw this post!! xo
It is so spectacular. Anyone would love it but artists especially will be in awe of the craftsmanship of the exhibit.
There are no other words, but STUNNING!

I saw this advertised on TV yesterday and thought to myself, I can’t wait to read about this on Beth’s blog… You sure didn’t make me wait long! Thanks for the tour!
Maybe the green cones that look vaguely like ferns? I remember watching a glassblower at work as an attraction in North Carolina, but…wow!
What an amazing array of art-work.And the colours and designs are fabulous! x
Wow!!! What incredible art! The glass is just exquisite! Thanks so much for sharing these! Some pieces have been on display in Columbus at the Franklin Park Conservatory, but I haven’t seen anything like this. I am very drawn to the balls in the water. Lovely!!! So glad that you got to enjoy this!
My husband and I both love Bliltmore. I would love to go again to see this beautiful exhibit. Enjoy your time there.
I left a message yesterday but I don’t see it here. You are so lucky to see this amazing display and the night time one will be fabulous as well. xo
I know! I can’t wait for the nighttime viewing. the daytime is simply amazing and to see it at night will be the icing on the cake.
His art truly is amazing! And like you, it just boggles my mind that it’S weatherproof.
