Comments for a Cause – Shadowbrook Farm

19 Comments/ 223/ 1

November 1st and once again I am amazed at how quickly this month flew by. It is crazy. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was announcing our October Comments for a Cause recipient – Warm Coats for Kids.

If you remember last month I highlighted an effort by our Ladies Luncheon Committee here in Connestee to help our local students with a warm clothing and undergarment drive. I am so happy to report that it has been a huge success and we have collected so many wonderful slightly used and new items to help keep our local children and youth warm in the upcoming cooler months. I anticipated about how much Comments for a Cause would raise and went ahead and bought some new underwear, socks and sweatshirts to add to the donation piles.

I am happy to report that Chris and I were able to buy $143 worth of items to be donated to local students. Thank you so much to all who have commented during the month. YOU make a difference.

If you read my post yesterday you probably knew what was coming. Our November Comments for a Cause will be the wonderful Shadowbrook Farms located on Wilson Road in Pisgah Forest, NC.

Owners Mary Ann Duvall and Bill Kilpatrick have created a one of a kind sanctuary for animals that have been abandoned or have found themselves in otherwise less than wonderful circumstances. It all started with one horse and now Shadowbrook Farm is home to donkeys, goats, horses, ducks, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and more. They love to have folks come to volunteer by brushing and petting the animals, feeding scraps to the guinea pigs and just basically loving on all of the creatures that live here.

Join me this month and support Shadowbrook Farm. Each comment made on any post during the month means a 50 cent donation to Shadowbrook Farm. Chris and I are so happy to be able to continue to bless others with just a portion of what we have been blessed with. It would not be possible without all of my wonderful readers who faithfully comment on each and every post on It’s Just Life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You can bet these animals will thank you as well. If you come to visit me let’s plan on taking a little trip to the farm, shall we? Bring your boots.

So great that you do this each month, Beth Anne. Shadowbrook Farm looks like such a nice place; bless them for caring for those abandoned animals.

They are truly the loveliest people and so compassionate. I am privileged to have the chance to get to know them and to help out a tiny bit.

I think it’s great that Shadowbrook is in your spotlight! We try to take Wilson there weekly to feed the critters and just experience this sweet place. Mary Ann and Bill are such kind people, and we appreciate that they are willing to share their hearts with us in this way.

I thought perhaps this would be your comments for a cause choice for this month. I am always happy to support animal rescue centres like this one.

The guinea pigs are so doggone cute. I love hearing them make their little noises when they gobble up their food.

I’ve been doing some training for the last several years around this area in NC, but I hadn’t heard about Shadowbrook Farm! Awesome choice!
