I Live in the Cloud

21 Comments/ 1460/ 0

Go ahead.  Say it.  She has totally gone bonkers now!!!  It’s true.  I live in the cloud.  And it is a pretty darn nice place to be, thank you very much!!!   My life has gone from being low tech and uncomplicated in a few short years to having so many electronic gadgets and devices that I have chargers in every spot conceivable.  I am not totally sure that it is a good thing.

But the cloud is definitely a good thing.  I remember Chris’s dad asking Chris “Just what is this cloud thing they are always talking about?”  I think the easiest way that I have had it explained is that it is kind of like electricity.  You know, it is always there.  Unless you are Amish and that is another story.  You did nothing to get the electricity yourself—-other than pay the bill to provide it. All that matters is that it works when you need it to work. The cloud is kind of like that. Through your internet connection you can access all your files and downloads or whatever you have chosen to save to the cloud.  And then it is all magically there.  Just when you need it. From whatever device you need to be using at the moment.  It is magical.  I have used Gmail for ages and that is really actually the cloud because I can access my email from anywhere.   So there you have it.  I have lived in the cloud for a long time and am just now admitting it to everyone.

Of course the title of this post came about because Chris told me I lived in the cloud—another Chrisism…folks–they are coming fast and furious these days.  But he is right.  Not only do I have my data in the cloud I normally have my head in the cloud—-thinking that everyone is good and upright and honest.   I used to think I was a really good judge of character but I am not.  I live in the cloud.  And then when someone disappoints me I can not understand it because of my cloudiness.

One thing that I am certain of is this—-I can always count on my son Aaron to help me figure stuff out.  I had a dream (oh wait—that was Martin Luther King) to make my blog pretty.  I had the template all picked out.  I had the plan in my head.  But when push came to shove I couldn’t make it happen.   So I whined and Aaron said “send me your info, Moms, and I will just do it for you”.  And bless his heart—he did in about half an hour what I would be trying to figure out how to do into next year.  So thank you, Aaron, for being a part of my own personal cloud—-I can take it from here and do the rest.  I think.

Let me know what you think of the new layout and design, pretty please!

I am loving the new design… A LOT! it is funny, usually I just log on from your email, but today I deleted it in error, so I just typed your address. At first I thought I went to the wrong site! I love the colors, and the clean cut of it… I think it is fun to have a blog face lift – but you are so lucky for your son! I did mine myself and I almost had a breakdown doing it….

I had started doing it, had picked out the template and tried to start and it was really driving me nuts because nothing was lining up so I texted Aaron and seriously—within a half hour he had it just like I wanted it. I had not wanted to bother him with it because he has so much on his plate but he took pity on his poor Momma and made it work just right. I wanted something clean without all the junk on the sidebars so this is what I came up with. And hopefully it is easier to find the comment area . And it is sorting all my teapot posts, books (still have to add those posts) etc. It is still a work in progress but so far I like it!

I love your new layout and color. Noticed it right away when I opened your site. It’s great. And like you I live in the cloud. It’s amazing what you can do now when it comes to computers, internet and technology. And I’m the same when it comes to people… I guess, that’s our lot to bear in life!!! 🙂

Susi, Thanks!!! I am pretty excited about it!!! Doesn’t take much for me to be happy. Funny thing –I was obsessing about it yesterday and the oldest son called with some things to work through and all I could think about was why my blog template was all messed up….sad, but true. I finally did shake it off and concentrated on him but initially–not so much. When I think how far I have come tho…amazing. I took Basic programming in college and did miserably….

I warned you guys!!! 🙂 I know it is a little different but I think it is easier to navigate and not so cluttered which was driving me nuts. If you want to look at all the “stuff” you can click on the tabs—if not–you dont’! And hopefully having the comments at the top is a little easier to see to click on. Thanks!!!!!

I love your new look. I keep thinking about changing mine, but just don’t have the time to even figure out what I want to change it to. For now I satisfy myself by changing the header monthly.

Thanks for explaining the iCloud. I haven’t gotten into it yet (outside of email) because for some reason I worry about privacy. Maybe a storm will come along and disrupt my cloud and then all my information will rain down somewhere. Ha ha.

One of these days. It sure would be helpful to access all my photos from my iPad at times.

Thanks, Christine! I am very happy with it. I had wanted to do the tab thing at the top for awhile but had them as Pages and Aaron helped me set them as Categories so it would pull them all in. I was clueless and I know you had suggested that awhile back but the template I was using did not support that. It took awhile…..but once I figured out what I wanted and had the expert help it made me so very happy!

Do you like it?? Do you??? 🙂 I was trying to keep Aaron out of it because he is so busy but he is so good at what he does…..and he does not like to hear his Momma cry so he gave in…. Like I have said before—I have 2 genius sons.

I love this, Beth Ann. I would love to try something new, but I’m not technology savvy, and I have no Aaron in my life. What’s a woman to do? Can I have him on loan?
    Hugs,
    Kathy

He is in high demand, trust me. Your blog is just fine and dandy! I have always done my own stuff and then this time changing it all was just overwhelming to me for some reason. I had it in my head what I wanted but couldn’t make it happen. It is going to stay this way for awhile, trust me!

Like your new layout Beth Ann, it’s very clean looking. My eldest daughter & son-in-law are coming for an Easter visit this weekend, so I’m going to try to get Cyd to give me a hand with updating my blog page. Like you, I’m totally flummoxed & it will probably take him 15 minutes!

Thank you! I am so happy with it. I have always done stuff on my own like I said but I could just not get the columns like I wanted so once Aaron got it started I could do the widgets and tabs like I wanted. It is nice to have someone in the family who can help you do that stuff!!!
