Maksim and Penny – Part 2

17 Comments/ 53/ 0

We were thrilled to have our oldest son Micah and his wife Wendy come to visit last weekend. We expanded our “bubble” a little bit and had a really wonderful visit with them. Of course their Corgi Penny came along and with two cats here we usually have to think a little bit about how to keep everyone safe and happy.

Lady Penelope
Maksim looking out at Penny on the deck.

Holly basically lived upstairs with a baby gate keeping Penny out. She did come down a couple of times when Penny was here but moved quickly and furtively. She has that down since Maksim came to live here. We kept Maksim in our bedroom/bathroom area and we have double doors so there was a double barrier. Last time Penny was here Maksim hid under the bookcase for 6 hours. He does not fit there anymore.

Holly peering down at Penny.

They all were quite aware of the presence of one another and by the end of the weekend after a lot of sniffing through screen doors and other doors Maksim made the decision to come out.

The door was the line that Penny was told not to cross. She did pretty well at it.
A little timid at first.
A little bit braver.
And Penny shoots off –scared of that cat!

They did so much better than I thought they would. There is hope. Next visit maybe they will actually both calm down a bit and play together. All I know is Maksim breathed a sigh of relief when he could have his bed back and just live his best life without worrying about that dog.

Such cute pictures. I’m sure eventually they will all become friends. Dot has been known to turn and run when a cat has approached her too. xo

Penny was her usual charming self. They need more time together and they would be best friends for sure!

It will just take time for Penny & Maksim to accept each other. It certainly looks like you made process this trip. They are both so cute.

Your photos told a great story! Glad they “sort of” dealt with each other.

They actually did pretty well together. Now Holly and Maksim — not always the case. He always wants to play and Holly doesn’t really want to have much to do with those shenanigans.

Ha ha. So adorable. Animals are so funny. We have two parakeets and when they come out of their cage and fly down on the floor both Finn and Audrey are never quite sure what to do. If they move in their general direction both usually scoot off. 🤣

I love that your parakeets baffle your cat and dog. I am not sure that would happen in our household!

I love Corgis!! And if it weren’t for their profuse shedding, I’d probably want to acquire one. Penny is delightful, especially her furry, tail-less bottom! Glad they managed to “social distance”, ha!

Corgis are really a fun breed, aren’t they? I do love Penny so much. She has a really great personality and is very loyal. It is so funny when we are all together and someone does not go on a walk with the rest or whatever —she gets all distressed and has to go find them to herd them into the fold. 🙂

My Sheltie was like that, too! He didn’t even like it if we weren’t ALL in the same room of the house.
