Pawsing for a Moment

Leave a Comment/ 816/ 0

In my ever present quest to find meaning in my life I have hit upon something that might help me out. I finally found a place that is happy to have someone help them out on their own schedule—the Humane Society here in Mason City! Yay! All the employees are really great and Pam gave me the tour and got me started on the whole volunteer process. They just moved into a new spacious facility and it is a far cry from their old building. The dogs and kitties actually have room and nice accomodations and it is just a really nice facility.

I walked a couple of doggies and got a decent workout yesterday—-they are just excited to get outside I think! And the great thing is that the walk is so easy—it is just outside of town and on a road that there is very little traffic and it runs right along the river so even though the leaves are off the trees now it is a lovely place to walk! So it is a win win—-both for me and the dogs and I can go drop in anytime I want to so that works too!!! Why didn’t I do this before???? Silly me! So we shall see—I figure a couple times a week but when it is 20 below i probably won’t be doing it….hopefully I have a month before that happens…..The kitties were adorable but they have had some respiratory thing going through the kitty part so they are limiting socialization in there right now but believe me—they will be my priority too!!! Though it is not easy to walk a cat…..

So at least I have a plan. Kind of. And I would encourage anyone out there to find their local shelter, donate supplies, money, show up to help socialize and just love the animals that need a home!!! End of PSA !!!!

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
