We had a bit of a snowstorm in Brevard, NC this past week and it was one of those lovely snows that coats everything in a glistening covering of fluffiness. It ended up being more than expected and our yard had probably 10 inches. If you have been to our house you know that we have a long steep driveway. There is no way we could have gotten out even with my trusty Subaru.
So we hunkered down inside, books and cats in laps, tea and coffee steaming in mugs and settled in for a few days. I shared a lot of pictures on Facebook of the snow but if you missed those I will share a couple of my favorites here.
Enough snow pictures. You get the idea. Fortunately we were able to get out of the driveway (thanks to our neighbors who let us go out their driveway) and make it to the airport on Sunday to head to Alabama where it is chillier than usual but no snow around. But now it is time for a teapot. It is Tuesday, after all.
Today’s teapot was an eBay find from the woman who was selling her mother’s massive teapot collection. Yes—it was way bigger than mine and I reaped the benefits. This cute little teapot is all blue and sparkly and snowy. Perfect for a winter brew.
It snowed last year too: I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down
and I knocked my brother down and then we had tea.

Leave a commentAre you in Alabama? History making location today. Be careful out there. Temperatures are bound to be run high :-D. The snow pictures were and are lovely. I love how peaceful and beautiful it is when snow falls. And the way it makes you surrender to all the busyness. and stay put.
Sold teapot, not at all flaky!
Yep. It will be an interesting day in Alabama for sure today. The snow does have a way of making us all slow down a bit. It did put a crimp in some of our plans but we muddled through and thanks to the good folks at the villas next to us we managed to sneak out their parking lot and make it out to the airport when we needed to. I suspect when I get home our driveway will be melted off or at least I hope so! Thanks for stopping by!
Wow! That sure is a lot of snow. I saw the pictures on Facebook and shivered. A perfect teapot for sure. I would enjoy a hearty Earl Grey from it with a slice of lemon of course. Have a good, safe time in Alabama.
Thanks, Darlene. This is a crazy weather time I think. Earl Grey would be the perfect drink of choice —maybe even a hot toddy!
Ally was sooooo jealous over the snow. She’s in the “I want to see snow” phase right now and I hope we can make her wish come true sometime in 2018. I love that first nice snow but thinking of the melt, the slushiness, the ice and dirt, make me happy to look at the pictures and enjoy that way! The teapot is cute, reminds me of Frozen. 🙂
Oh Ally definitely needs to be in snow sometime. It was beautiful but then it was getting gross and slushy when we left for Alabama. I am happy to miss that stage.
P. S. Love your front porch and the look of your house.
That’s actually the back of our house. I love it, too!!!
I can’t wait to have a cabin with a porch one day…
It’s snowing in West Virginia as we drive toward Charlotte. Everybody stay safe!
Charlotte is my old stomping grounds—- well more Mooresville. Be safe!
We will actually be closer to Mooresville. In Cornelius.
Know it well!!!
Snow! Being raised in Northern Ohio, I sure miss the snow…just an occasional flake (s) would be nice. Love your snow pictures…in snowy days, a warm fire and tea, so perect. Love to just sit by the window and watch it snow. Your new teapot is perfect on a snowy day! Lucky you and your Ebay finds!!
Your snow pix are absolutely gorgeous. Is that amount of snow abnormal? You have way more than us here in southern Minnesota. Here a mere dusting covers the ground. And I’m good with that.
We usually get a couple smaller snows but we got 15 inches in one snowfall in January 2015 and then this one this December. I think I need to move father south. 🙂 The good thing is that it melts pretty quickly so we don’t have to deal with it all winter long.
Y’all had a lot o’ snow! We only got a dusting with no residual… Alabama, big day to day for Alabama folks. We went as far west as Charlotte on Sat/Sun but the snow all melted as it hit the ground. Happy Travels. Oh yeah, cute teapot!
It was a big day for Alabama folks for sure. And I think it worked out well in the end. Time will tell. The snow is hopefully going to be gone by tomorrow when I get back home.
Wow. In Gate City, Virginia, we got sprinkles and cold air, over the weekend, but nothing like this…which means it’s likely to be heading our way with today’s slightly warmer temperatures and snow-type clouds.
You can have some of our snow too! The tea pot is very pretty.
Did you guys finally get snow??? I haven’t heard much MN weather news!
We got a few inches of snow last night. Surely does look pretty just like that sweet little teapot.
