Teapot Tuesday brings readers a taste of freshness this week as I share a teapot that I got while I lived in Iowa. Iowa is known for many things but one of the best things about Iowa summers has to be the abundance of sweet corn. It is absolutely the best. Now I have had some pretty spectacular sweet corn here in North Carolina this summer but Iowa never failed to give me a taste of summer that still is fresh in my memory all these years later.
This Shawnee teapot made in 1975 was the perfect addition to my collection to help commemorate our time in Iowa.

Just look at the texture on this one —it actually looks like kernels on the cob, doesn’t it?

Sometimes teapots drip a little bit when the tea is poured from them and yes– there are tea drip catchers you can purchase for your teapot spout. Of course there are.

This one is a cute little lady bug themed drip catcher. Fabulous, right?

Hope you have a lovely Tuesday and are able to enjoy some fresh corn on the cob this week. I know it is on my menu.

It is pretty darn adorable, isn’t it? I always forget to use it with my teapots that tend to drip a bit.
I do have NC corn in the fridge!
Growing up in Minnesota we would wait for the field corn to ripen . We added sugar in the pot to sweeten.
This also brought back memories of getting lost in a cornfield!
Oh yes! I know that Minnesota tradition of putting the sugar in the pot as well! How about those corn mazes???? 🙂
What a great memory that teapot creates, We grew corn on our farm and it was always so good! xo
The timing is perfect for me on this teapot. Just had my first sweet corn of the season this past weekend. Unfortunately, the corn, which came from Iowa, was not good. Small ears that were not filled out, a disappointment at $1 a cob. But since it was purchased from a roadside vendor in a nearby community, there’s no return. For the most part, sweet corn bought from vendors is great. Or they don’t stay in business.
Fresh sweet corn is the best! We have it in abundance here too, so good! Folks here sometimes have corn roasts in the summer – a huge bonfire where the corn is roasted in its husks. Roasted sweet corn is delicious. That teapot surely does remind me of all of that.
What a cutie — both the corny pot and the ladybug!!
The pot is so cute and the little lady bug just adds to it. I loved the poem so sweet.
I love how Iowan this teapot is! Makes me think of learning at one of our blog tours that the corn we saw growing all around wasn’t sweet corn. I had no idea
