Teapot Tuesday – Keeping it Cozy

11 Comments/ 2781/ 0

Teapots need to be cozy. What does that mean?  It means that to help keep that lovely amber liquid warm and at the right drinking temperature a cozy is often placed over the teapot to keep it warm.  I have several of these teapots in my collection that came with their own little metal cozies and I love them.

This little off white teapot has the perfect cozy to keep it warm and I love the elegance of it when the cozy is on. teapot3 This was an Ebay find and definitely shows the signs of being  a well loved and often used teapot judging from the cracks and glazing on both the pot and the lid but it still brews up an amazing cup of tea every single time.  I love the fact that someone else loved pouring tea from this one.

Oh and by the way—it is really difficult to take pictures of shiny tea cozies without capturing yourself in the reflection. I gave up trying to succeed.

“Perhaps there can be too much making of cups of tea, I thought, as I watched Miss Statham filling the heavy teapot. Did we really need a cup of tea? I even said as much to Miss Statham and she looked at me with a hurt, almost angry look, ‘Do we need tea? she echoed. ‘But Miss Lathbury…’ She sounded puzzled and distressed and I began to realise that my question had struck at something deep and fundamental. It was the kind of question that starts a landslide in the mind. I mumbled something about making a joke and that of course one needed tea always, at every hour of the day or night.”

How fancy. I’ve had the same reflection problem when photographing at a car show.

I love the handknit ones my grandma made. I still have one that I use. But I always use one! And I have not figured out how to get myself out of the reflection yet either! ha

I have a hand knitted one that I got at a church fair in New Zealand that I use on my ones that done’ have their own cozies. Glad to know I am not the only one who takes pictures of themselves unintentionally.

I like taking pictures of store window displays and yes, I end up being reflected back! Every teapot needs a cosy and it is so nice when they come with one.

I agree! Every teapot needs a cozy and this one is perfectly beautiful even if it has my reflection in it. 🙂

Haha. Well I don’t know about that since I was basically laying on the floor but it made me laugh that there was not one picture without me in it!
