You know that sometimes I talk big. I act all tough and get all bent out of shape on things that I think are unjust or just plain wrong. Many of you have hung in there with me with my tale of woe of my experiences with buying an elliptical at our local Sears. Well, I KNOW I said I was going to go in and talk to the store manager. Today I was spurred on to action, finally. My anger had died down a bit and I felt like I could be coherent. Must be due to those great workouts. Also got a call from number 2 son detailing some major issues with his car that the dealer basically lied to him about so that spurred me on again to think about addressing the whole Sears issue. I, quite frankly, am tired of liars. I am tired of bad customer service. I am tired of misrepresentation. I am tired of people taking advantage of other people . I am just tired of it and it is ruining my positive mojo that I usually have going on.
So, first step—find out the name of the store manager of the local store. Called the local store number, put on hold, got automated message, asked for customer service, on hold again, not too long and a nice lady came on asking what I could be helped with. One second into the conversation I realized that this was not the local store but some major hotline number. Sigh. So I asked her for the name of the store manager of the Mason City, Iowa store. Come to find out there IS NO STORE MANAGER! Sorry for shouting but maybe that is the problem! No one is minding the store!!! From what this woman said it sounds like they have several people “sharing” the job at the moment.
Next step—-writing a letter and addressing it to the “store manager” and hopefully someone will take the time to read my long drawn out story and make sure that it does not happen to some other poor unsuspecting customer. It is all beginning to make sense now…..

Leave a commentThat’s one of the reasons I moved to Roatan. Actually a big reason! In North America there is always a phone number to call if you have an issue, whether it be cell phone service, a warranty on the toaster, or the carpet cleaner who missed a few stains. Although you get through (eventually) to a real voice, chances are they are answering from a call center half way around the world and there isn’t much they can or will do to help you.
Not on Roatan! There is no pretending a business or service offers “customer service” what you see is what you get–period! No worries about getting your hopes up that someone out there will assist you.
Isn’t that just a sad commentary on our lives now that we feel that way? I must admit that it has had me a little bummed out and it is just plain silly but I am really tired of people lying about things. I am naive in that way that I actually trust people and think that they will stand behind their word! Oh well. At least you have come to terms with your life on Roatan and can accept that things are just as they appear!!! No worries!!! Thanks for the comments!!
indeed…
