Village Point Market – A Must Stop in Hayesville, Ohio

8 Comments/ 114/ 2

I discovered Village Point Market in tiny Hayesville, Ohio last month when I went to visit my sister.  She had been telling me for ages that I had to come visit her and we had to go to the Village Point Market.

I finally made a trip to see both my mom and my sister, Paula, and was able to spend a few days with both so the timing was perfect.  Now call me dubious but I was a little doubtful about what a town boasting 448 people as of the census in 2010 could offer in the way of a “market” but I was wrong.  Paula was spot on. The place is amazing.

From what I understand the building where Village Point Market is housed was renovated and now it is jam packed with amazing Ohio made products, cheeses and meats, Amish baked products, candles, bulk food items, home and household items and more.

Coffee, ice cream and a little eating area where customers can enjoy their food items make this place a gem.

The entire atmosphere at the market is fun.  Fresh produce fills baskets and bins.  Jars of jellies and pickles, salsas and relishes line the shelves.

On one wall they have a display of pictures of the area from years gone by.  Deer antlers for dogs are also something that you can buy here.

Take a look at just a small part of their candy corner.  Wow, right?

They have definitely transformed what used to be an eyesore of a building into a pretty amazing and wonderful store.

Locals have definitely discovered and supported the market and judging from the traffic in and out while we visited it is not only locals who are supporting this wonderful addition to the community.

I loved being able to spend almost an hour shopping here.  I did manage to buy a few items to take home with me since I was driving and not flying this time and one of those items was a delightful loaf of bread that I shared with my sister and brother in law.  It was seriously tasty.

Judging from the number of pictures I took you can tell that this place is in top places to revisit when I go see Paula the next time. That is why I utilized the collage feature in this post — way too many pictures to include by themselves. The staff was friendly and courteous, willing to help answer questions and available.  The selection here is varied and always changing.

If you ever find yourself in the area of Ashland, Ohio take a little trip to a wide spot in the road called Hayesville and stop in to see the Village Point Market.   I am fairly certain you will find a thing or two to take home with you.

I have never see chocolate beet root bread but can imagine it was delicious! Is that where you get your antler horns to mysteriously mail to people?
