What’s Happening at Your House?

2 Comments/ 24/ 0

I am catching my breath after a wonderful AAUW Book Sale — it was fun and a lot of work and a lot of great connections were made. AND a lot of happy customers went home with loads of great books and more. This year I did things a bit differently and was not as tired as in previous years so I think my strategy worked.

.

.

I had a couple free days after the book sale and spent a good deal of time sitting on our decks and dock reading. Perfect way to end the week, right?

.

.

While I was reading there was a lot of bird activity.

.

.

Another exciting thing was celebrating Misha’s first birthday — complete with sardines which she loved.

.

An early Father’s Day project and gift – a new umbrella for our dock which was a project that actually went really well. You know how surprising that is, right? Because sometimes the simple projects get complicated.

.

.

I had a craving for a Pennsylvania favorite – steak salad- and we had grilled some steaks and had some leftover so it was meant to be. Chris thinks this needs to be on the monthly rotation.

.

.

A dark eyed junco has a nest in my fern again this year with 5 eggs that we hope will hatch soon. I am tired of watering with ice cubes and upsetting her every time I take a look.

.

.

But the absolute best news of all is the arrival of our new granddaughter on Sunday — we can’t wait to see our little “Coco” in person as soon as possible. Mommy and baby are tired but doing well and big brother Theo is very excited to meet her and hold her. Life is good. What’s going on at your home? Let me know by leaving a comment in the comment section.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

I loved this book! It had my interest from the very first page and was my "airplane" book on a recent trip. Author Mary Kubica created believable and interesting characters that the reader learned to identify with and care about. Mi...

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
