What’s On My Wall

17 Comments/ 16/ 2

I am starting a new series today that I hope will keep my readers amused over time.

So many people have interesting things on their walls.  I have shared a few things over the years with my readers including a plaster nose.  You can view that post by clicking here.  Since I already posted probably the oddest thing I have on my wall I had to come up with something else to kick off this series.

I had to actually take this off the wall to photograph it without shadows and reflections so I guess it really should be titled  “Off the Wall” but you get the idea.

So what is it?  The caption on this work of art is “A Longneck and 6 Stubbies”.  Now to my US friends this may mean nothing whatsoever. But to my Aussie friends –they totally understand what this picture means.

A long neck is just like it sounds —a beer bottle with a long neck.  A stubby on the other hand is a beer bottle with a very small neck.  In the picture there is one “longneck” and 6 “stubbies” following behind.  So there you go— a little Aussie humor for you. Chris picked this out someplace when we lived in Australia and it always makes me smile when I see those silly cassowaries .

So what do you think?  Let me know if  you want me to continue this series over time.  You never know what might be on my walls.

Don’t forget to leave a comment.  All comments this month go for our May Comments for a Cause –Railway Children.

Great sense of humor and now I have picked up some Aussie vernacular. Have a good week.

They are very “Punny” and their sense of humor is very interesting. At times they did not really understand my sense of humor I think but we worked it out. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.

A great picture and one that must bring back some wonderful memories of your time in Australia. I am looking forward to more of these posts.

Thanks so much, Judy. We have a lot of interesting artwork and objects on our walls but this one is one that makes me giggle every time I see it.

Well, the nose was awesome! Will there be any other body parts?

Glad you enjoyed the nose. We do have a quirky sense of humor. No more body parts on my walls that I can think of today. 🙂

Yes, I would love to see more of what hangs on your walls. Last week I took a photo of two photos on my fridge and sent them to my son. One is of the two of us taken in Boston a year ago and the other is a pic of him from elementary school. He appreciated that I have these on my fridge because he actually texted me back (which doesn’t often happen).

I love that you sent those to Caleb. Our kids don’t always realize that we miss them and when they respond to texts, etc. it makes a mama’s heart happy, right? Glad you liked my series. I will continue it over time. 🙂

Yes, the text response made my mama’s heart happy.

I do miss my boy. It’s been too long, 4 1/2 months. I don’t think he realizes how much I miss him.

I asked my mom once if she missed me when I left for college. She told me no, that she was too busy with four other kids still at home.

I think it’s a neat idea! Should be very interesting! But, I need advice on how to photo something under glass…. I’ve never found a way to avoid the reflection.

Glad you like the idea. I actually just took it off the wall and laid it on the floor and positioned it so I could take the pic without my reflection in it. Sometimes it works better than other times.

Thanks, Jeni. I saw this idea someplace (who knows where) on tv or something. But I thought “hey–I have stuff on my wall so I could do this”.
