Treepot Tuesday

19 Comments/ 78/ 1

Did you catch that play on words?  Treepot Tuesday?  Not Teapot Tuesday.

I know –  I am so witty.

Today’s teapot is one that I purchased at Teavana years ago.  It is an adorable tree shape with little people carved into the trunk.

Creepy or cute?  What do you think?  I prefer to think it is cute but others might disagree. Whatever your take you have to agree it is a different sort of teapot.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Perhaps there can be too much making of cups of tea, I thought, as I watched Miss Statham filling the heavy teapot. Did we really need a cup of tea? I even said as much to Miss Statham and she looked at me with a hurt, almost angry look, ‘Do we need tea? she echoed. ‘But Miss Lathbury…’ She sounded puzzled and distressed and I began to realise that my question had struck at something deep and fundamental. It was the kind of question that starts a landslide in the mind. I mumbled something about making a joke and that of course one needed tea always, at every hour of the day or night.—– Barbara Pym

    Treapot Tuesday is very clever. I love this teapot. As a child i would have made up many stories about it and the people hiding in the trunk!

      Exactly! Still could! I could see a story written about this one without a doubt.

      I am so witty, right? Not. But I was hoping someone would catch it. And not think I had lost it. Which “might” be true . 🙂

    If I’m honest, I have to say I don’t know about this one. But your post did remind me that I needed to look at Teavana’s website to see if they still sell the red and gold one that I have, that I LOVE, that has a crack in it now and that I want to replace. They don’t! I’m so bummed! And I can’t find it anywhere else either. Arghhhhhhhhhh!

      Honesty accepted here ! 🙂 I am bummed about your teapot! You know I have had that one on my wish list for forever. Where is the crack? Can you still use it? I will keep my eyes open and if I see one I will snag it for you. I am bummed for you!

        It’s cracked around the handle and now leaks. I still use it, but have to put it on paper towels when it’s steeping. I looked all over the web – the only one I could find that you didn’t have to be in Ontario to pick up, was one being offered for $987 (!!!!!) as part of a set that incl. 4 cups & saucers, a sugar and creamer, and 8 spoons. I got my set for $100 and it included everything except the creamer, sugar, spoons. Crazy person….

        Anyway, Christmas present will be Wedgewood’s Wild Strawberry teapot to match a bunch of pieces that my Dad gave my Mom years ago when he was sick. He had asked me to get something for her as a present because he was too weak to do it, so I bought 3 pieces of that pattern, a vase, a potpourri container and a little round box for rings and things. That way it has some connection!

          The Wedgwood idea is a wonderful idea. I am sorry about the red and gold teapot–they still had them in the stores probably 6 months ago because I remember seeing them. I will put my troops on it and if anyone can find one I will snag it for you because I do know how much you loved that one.

    Oh not creepy at all!! This may even be my very favourite of all the teapots now. It’s just so unique. It just seems to go with a tea ceremony. LOVE.

    I don’t think it’s creepy, but I’m not sure it’s cute either – can I just say it’s interesting 🙂
