It is a katydid. I have seen them all over the place this year so it must be a good year for them. I love praying mantis and have seen a few lately as well.
Katydids are cute…though loud if they start calling in the house at night. In Virginia they start calling in July and are likely to approach houses in September, late in their lives.

Leave a commentInteresting. Do you know what kind of bug it is? We get the long green praying mantis here and I find them fascinating.

A katydid!! I didn´t know they were actually a real bug. How cool is that!
Yep–they are everywhere this year it seems. So brilliantly green and lovely.
What is that? Is it big? Certainly is green!
Katydid. It is probably 3-4 inches and very pretty.

They can be very loud but I do think that are pretty.
Katydid! Katy, did you befriend Beth Ann? 😉
Sure did!
Nice “friend”. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one sooooo green. We have very colorful ones down here.
He / She was vivid and cute!
Interesting and green bug. I have never heard of it, that I remember.
It’s always exciting to get a close-up shot of a giant bug.
This katydid was very cooperative for picture taking!
