Would You or Wouldn’t You?

11 Comments/ 48/ 1

Are you a risk taker? Someone who thrives on adventure? Do you seek out dangerous opportunities? Or do you like to keep things safe and simple and your feet on level ground?

We happened upon this bridge when we were in Hawaii and I HAD to go on it.

This really wasn’t that big of a risk but if you are nervous about walking on a 3 foot wide bridge that moves a lot while you walk over a body of water this might not be the adventure for you. The Hanapepe Swinging Bridge is a fun little attraction that is still in use for residents to cross the Hanapepe River. Once you cross the narrow bridge there is a gift shop on the bank below and also homes. We respectfully did not walk any farther because this is where people live and there are plenty of other places to walk.

Someone had started walking ahead of us and I decided to wait
until the bridge was totally free before I headed across.
A view from the middle of the bridge.

It was really a fun bridge and with a limit of 15 people you can understand the smallness of the structure itself.

Please – no diving. Chris decided to come across after all.
Another view from the bank before I crossed back over.

This easy to find hot spot in the little town of Hanapepe on the island of Kauai is worth the stop. There is easy parking on the east side of the river, you can walk the bridge and then return without disturbing any of the Hanapepe Valley residents who live on the west side. There are also some nice shops and restaurants in the town to enjoy so make the most of a stop in this little town.

Would you walk across this bridge or would you pass? Let me know in the comments and remember that each comment means a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause – Project: Music Heals Us.

There is NO way I would cross that bridge! My feet start tingling if I am within 25 yards of a high place. It is beautiful, though. I am glad you enjoyed the experience.

I’d definitely have to cross it. As a matter of fact, I’m putting it on my travel “bucket list”.

I would likely pass, especially if the bridge is high. Or I would walk a ways and then turn around. I am not a risk taker or an adventurer.

I´ve crossed a few swinging bridges. I´m always hesitant at first and then always glad I did it. The views from this one are gorgeous.

I am undecided. It looks amazing but I too am not a adventurer. Your pictures are great.

So cool. I would love it. One of my fave things is walking over the Mike High Swinging Bridge in Grandfather Mountain. 🙂

I would have crossed on it, looks safe enough. Our zoo actually has a swinging bridge similar to this in the Australian Adventure area–it’s fun to bounce along on it!

How fun to have one of these bridges in your local zoo –I bet it gets a lot of use!
