Cod Loins?

10 Comments/ 114/ 0

Cod loins? Seriously? Take a look at this bag of fish we saw in the frozen food section in Sam’s Club.

After texting my brother, Mark, who is, after all, a wildlife biologist and an expert in all things fish I got this response back after he looked up some information.

“Fish loins do not exist. The term is a marketing ploy designed by food manufacturers to arouse positive connotations in the buyer.”

So does seeing this package arouse your loins? Cod or otherwise?

We all know advertising is out to make us want to buy a product but that name would completely turn me off.

Huh. Smart of you to consult an expert. How do they get away with this type of inaccurate advertising?

I just read something about that kind of marketing. It’s like saying “gluten free fruit”. I’m thankful down to my loins that you have clarified this mystery!!!
