525,600 Minutes

26 Comments/ 2456/ 0

A song has been going through my head lately and it definitely got me to thinking.  How do you measure a year?

If I measured it in cups of tea–that would probably be at least 500 cups—who am I kidding?   730 is more accurate.

If I measured a year in blog posts it would be about 300 give or take a few.

If I measured a year in date nights with the hubby it would number between 52 and 100.

If I measured a year in treats given to our cats, Buddy and Holly, it would be a million, most likely.  They are pretty spoiled, after all.

If I measured a year in happy moments it would be impossible to count.

The one thing that I do know is that my years are measured by my relationships and friendships that span the United States and beyond.  I am blessed beyond belief and can not put a measurement to those at all.

So for today I choose to celebrate my 525,600 minutes in love!

How about you? How would you measure your 525,600 minutes?

Seasons of Love (Rent) Jonathan Larson

525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes – how do you measure,
measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In
inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes – how do you
measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of
love.

525,600 minutes! 525,000 journeys to plan. 525,600 minutes – how can you measure the life of a woman or man?

In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried. In bridges he burned, or

the way that she died.

It’s time now to sing out, tho the story never ends let’s celebrate remember a year in the life of friends.

Remember the love! Remember the love! Remember the love! Measure in love. Seasons of love! Seasons of love.

I love that song! I think I would measure in cups of tea, too or coffee. Or laughing.

Good Morning Beth Ann! I like how you measure all your minutes. I have to say laughing too like Jennifer mentioned and CHEESEBURGERS! Happy Moments too because I have been working on recognizing them and enjoying them in the present.

Wonderful. Yes, we should all be mindful and measure every single second of our lives. Every one of them!

I loved this post, Beth Ann. Such a great song and now I can’t quit singing it in my head 🙂 I would measure my year in the number of hugs and kisses I get from my little T.J. He is a true blessing. Thanks for such a heartfelt post on this Friday morning 🙂

I wasn’t familiar with this song (don’t watch much tv), but the concept is amazing. Loved your post today. I would measure my year in time spent with my family and friends!

This is a great reminder to be ever thankful for our days, family, friends and our God who gives us these minutes.

My poor Dallas is spoiled with treats, too. I’ve been trying to cut back so he can drop a few pounds, but that’s as hard for dogs as it is for people! When it gets warmer, we’ll try a new tactic — more walkies, ha!

My latest measurement was in years of not smoking. It was such a big accomplishment to quit smoking after 40 years & I have made it to the point where I now measure in years instead of days, weeks or months.

I’d be afraid to measure mine by the amount of coffee drank. Let’s go with daily hugs from my littles. also a big number, but one I more proud of.

That’s a good question. And a hard one, actually. So many things go into those minutes. I liked your answers.
