A Blast from the Past

30 Comments/ 662/ 0

Don’t you just love it when you get a flash from the past? Recently I was reading a book and they referred to a type of perfume and it reminded me of one from my teenage years and I was immediately transported back.

The perfume that was mentioned in the book was Sunflowers and I distinctly remember having some but the one that came to the front of my mind was one that was called Just Call Me Maxi that I wore with abandon in my high school years. Now “I” loved it but my mom did not . I specifically remember my mom saying how much she hated it and thought it smelled like bug spray. Now isn’t that something that I remember how much she hated it? I imagine it is because I was very liberal with it.

I did a little search to see if they still make it and I did not find the exact match but one that is probably the current version.

Now the above is what I remember the bottle looking like when I used it back in the late 70’s. than I found this one. This shows what the fragrance notes are in this perfume. Who would have thought I was wearing all of these?

I actually found a video of a man reviewing the fragrance below. I will spare you the review, it was a little weird, but this is what is available now. I guess the packaging is updated and it is a little bit different. Do you think it would smell the same? I doubt that this 60+ year old woman needs to relive the perfume of her youth.

Did you have a signature fragrance? I hardly ever wear fragrance anymore because so many folks are so sensitive to fragrance. But on the off chance that I can find a sample of Just Call Me Maxi, I might just try it and see if it brings back any memories.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
