A Day on the Parkway

7 Comments/ 180/ 0

Chris plans the best days for me and he planned a day on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Not all of the higher elevations are leafed out fully yet but it was still a fabulous drive and a great day. The rhododendron are beautiful and the mountain laurel are all in various stages of blooming.

One of our favorite spots is Devil’s Courthouse. Legend has it that it is called that because in Cherokee lore, this cave is the private dancing chamber and dwelling place of the slant-eyed giant, Judaculla.

We grabbed lunch at Pisgah Inn which is the peak of the parkway. They allow non guests to have lunch in the dining room (reservations required) and. while it was only the second time we have eaten there it was another memorable visit.

I chose something I would never prepare at home and splurged a bit on the trout dish which Taylor deftly filleted table side.

The views from the Pisgah Inn are really amazing.

These pictures definitely do not do it justice. Life has been a little busy lately and today’s trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway was just what I needed. Hope you enjoyed the scenery along the way.

So, so beautiful! We are thrilled with the enticing glimpses we see as we drive to Florida! The best part of the drive. What a nurturing day you had- and your lunch! Thanks for the beautiful photos.

That’s a lot of trees and hills for this prairie girl. But it’s none-the-less beautiful. And that trout, yeah, couldn’t eat a fish delivered on a plate with head and tail still in place.
