Cheers to Traveling Again

6 Comments/ 173/ 0

I feel like we are almost back to being able to travel again without too many problems. Here we are – 3 years post the lock down of many things due to the COVID 19 pandemic and while it is still obviously a prevalent problem, it seems like most businesses are trying to get back to some pre-pandemic normalcy.

Chris and I have had several travel experiences this past month and it’s been interesting. When we fly we are still wearing masks in the airport and on the plane. While I am not quite as diligent about masking up when I go out in other public venues, I do try to “read the room” and asses my risk level. I have masked up in crowded situations and been one of a very few and you know what? That’s fine. As I have said all along, everyone has to do what they feel comfortable doing. We are vaccinated and try to distance in situations where we feel we need to.

Our recent trip to New Jersey to babysit and be with the family required a plane trip and a couple fairly long layovers in airports. Fortunately for us, we have access to the Delta Sky Lounge and that has been a great way to try to stay away from the large crowds in the airport itself.

Three years ago my friend Ann and I went to Tennessee to hear and meet Sean Dietrich of Sean of the South fame. It was right before the pandemic reared its ugly head and the country went into a lock down and we still talk about how weird that trip was. We both felt kind of a shift and that was just a small sign of what was to come. I am just so relieved that we are finding our way back to traveling a bit again.

Where do you fall on the spectrum? Do you feel like it is back to life as we knew it or not? Do you feel free to travel without too much concern? Do you have any big trips coming up? I would love to hear all about it and remember to Comment for a Cause — AAUW Scholarships for Girls and Women.

Yes, we are back to “normal”. We don’t even talk about it anymore. Thank you God! We haven’t flown- but that is because of the problems with flights and we like to drive to Florida. Everything in our neck of the woods seems to be fine, too, except for hiring issues- a breakfast place we like can’t be open as much due to lack of staff. Ho-e you are having fun!

Been all over Fla all winter from the Atlantic to the Gulf and everything in between. We are glad to do most of life outdoors. Lowers the risk. We are boosted with the new Covid variant shot. Knock on wood… no problems. As my husband says, Covid is here to stay but so are the many ways to treat it! Live!

At present we are not travelling like we use to. Not so much because of Covid but age and money. We both have been retired sense 2013 so things have changed a bit, but we are still blessed Praise the Lord. We try to travel a little bit.

We’re not travelers (time and money), so that aspect of COVID did not affect us. We are pretty much back to normal, not masking any more except at the clinic. That said, we are attending a visitation and funeral this weekend for a friend who died of cancer and I’m thinking perhaps we will mask given the anticipated crowds.

I’ve been back to Canada twice in the last 18 months and have worn a mask on the plane and in the airports even though it was not required the second time. I probably always will as I used to come back home and have a cold 2 days later. This doesn’t happen anymore!
