Don’t you guys need to know what is going on in my life? Well, actually, a lot. Summer is in full swing here in the mountains of North Carolina and combined with our almost daily afternoon thunderstorms, we have been enjoying life.

So today let me share a few things that have been taking up my time.

Podcast

Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist has been a really lovely podcast to follow and event though I am behind in listening to this one and have quite a few stacked up in my downloads, it is always worth listening to them. I love Willie’s easy going interview style and he has some of the most interesting people on. From Shonda Rhimes to Stanley Tucci I am always entertained and learn a bit more about a celebrity.

Audiobook

I just finished listening to The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell on Audible and really enjoyed it. Anything with extraordinary in the title gets my attention here at It’s Just Life. This book is a really great coming of age story and one that is actually free on Kindle Unlimited right now. Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this book. It is worth it.

Television

Chris and I are watching The Bear on Hulu and it is intense! It is about a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop. But it is intense. There is a lot of yelling and not so great language and I find that I can only watch an episode or two at a time. But I like it and really am getting drawn into the characters.

I just finished Jury Duty on Amazon Prime and LOVED it. Again, some adult themed themes, but the entire drama had me laughing all of the way through and it was a nice escape from life. There is a twist and I did not have it figured out which makes it even better.

Books

I just started Crow Mary by Kathleen Grissom that I bought at Highland Books here in Brevard. Of course it helped that owner Leslie highlighted it in one of her TikTok Booktalk videos but it is going to be good. I can’t wait to learn more about the indigenous woman and her life. Stay tuned.

I just finished The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk that I got at the AAUW Book Sale. It was a good book and you know how I love a good book about books.

So there you have it – all the exciting things that you need to know about my life and what I am enjoying. Aren’t you glad you stopped by today? Let me know what you have been enjoying and Comment for a Cause for National Parks and Recreation Association.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
