Favorite Blogs to Follow

26 Comments/ 482/ 1

I spend a lot of time reading blogs.  Maybe not as much time as I spend writing blog posts but it is still a time investment.  I have shared quite a few with my readers over the years and it has been awhile since I have given a shout out to some so today is the day.

I like variety in what I read so today’s list is definitely a selection of different types of blogs that I read.  Probably the most important thing to remember when reading a blog is that there is a person behind that blog that has invested time and energy into writing.  It means a lot that you stopped by and comments and shares are high praise.

Not everything that I write is worthy to be shared or tweeted but I like to think that occasionally something I write hits a spot that makes a reader stop and think a bit and want to share that with others.  That is the best encouragement a writer can receive.

Today I went through my list and chose just a few to highlight that I thought some of my readers might like to take a look at.

First up is  my new friend and author Jena C. Henry’s blog .  She blogs at JenaBooks and has a lovely looking site.  While she uses her site to promote her book series The Golden Age of Charli it is also a place where she writes great content for learning how to publish, write and she always offers encouragement.  You never know what you might read on Jena’s blog and I can not sing her praises loudly enough.  She is one of the most encouraging and kindest people out there. This is the year I intend to meet her IRL so watch out.  I have a feeling that our online friendship may make it to another level.

Love books?  My friend Andrea who blogs at Good Girl Gone Redneck is an avid reader and always has the best recommendations for books to read.  She lives in Raleigh and we actually have met in real life although not as often as I would like.  Andrea is an amazing writer as well and has a heart for people.  Her writing and posts often show what is on her heart and I love that about her.

Julie, another North Carolina blogger,  blogs at Running in a Skirt.  Julie has a lovely blog as well and features healthy recipes as well as encouraging and up beat posts about life in general.  I love all of the  positivity that I read when I visit her blog. She has a fashion segment on her blog and always shares the cutest outfits and fashions.  I love to look at some of the cute outfits that Julie models and she is a beautiful model at that.

Mindy blogs at Sweet Tea and Pasta and is another transplanted Southerner.  What I love about folks that move to the South is their excitement about their new area.  Mindy is a great example of that. She shares a lot of fun posts about travel to places in North Carolina.  Her blog is upbeat and fun and a great offering in my BlogLovin’ feed every week.

Finally I would love for you to meet Steph from Alabama who writes at Sweet Gum Life.  I have followed Steph for awhile and she has redesigned her blog and blog name recently and is now offering some fabulous content on her new site.  She started her relaunch off with a bang and had a ton of fun giveaways and I am excited to see where her blog takes her.  She is another upbeat and positive person and I know that any of my readers would love her writing.

So there you go.  Just a few of the blogs I read every week.  Don’t be shy. Stop by a couple of them and give them some comment love.  Share one of your favorite blogs with me so I can add to my list as well.  All comments  this month go to support our Comments for a Cause –The Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County.

Old Girls in Low Cotton

This short book was one that looked like it would be a fun read. I honestly did not enjoy it all that much---it was a lot of characters bickering and while some of the writing was witty and funny it was not that kind of book that made m...

All the Light We Cannot See

This is quite a book! I had it recommended to me by several people and while I thought it might be a little dark and depressing it made me have a better understanding of what life in this time period was like. The strength of the huma...

An Abundance of Katherines

Another great book by John Green. I have become a huge fan of John Green since my reading of A Fault in our Stars and this book was another that did not disappoint me at all. It was a story of a child prodigy, a lot of anagrams, and a b...
