Five Photos: Five Stories – Part 5

17 Comments/ 3571/ 1

The rules of Five Photos; Five Stories are to post a photo a day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph. Oh yes, and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge. Thanks to Dianna of These Days of Mine for tagging me to do this challenge. A great one for this time when I am feeling super busy and need a simple blog challenge.crab art
I have this picture on canvas above my fireplace in our home in Mason City.  A lot of people have asked me what it is and I love to share where I took this favorite picture.

When we lived in Australia we lived on the beach –I could walk out the back verandah and be right on the beach of the Coral Sea. Not everyone can say that and while the house that we rented was “beachy” in nature it suited us well for that time and we loved being able to walk the beach anytime we felt like it.

The favorite thing to find on the beach was what I referred to as crab art. This picture above shows the work of some industrious crab who was at work in this small area.  I suspect only one crab made this pattern but I could be wrong.  The crabs would take the sand up in their mouth, suck out all the goodies that they could find and then basically spit out the unwanted sand into tiny little balls. Sometimes the entire beach would be covered with non ending crab art and I always felt like I was stepping on art if I walked on any of the balled up sand.

I think I loved this picture so much because of the shell that the crab carefully incorporated into his artwork.   Isn’t nature amazing?

Today is the final day of my Five Photos: Five Stories challenge and I would love to tag Mary  of Natural Plus Nursery to participate if she would like to.  I think she has some amazing photographs of things at their nursery and would love to see what she comes up with.

Nature sure is amazing and I love this. I’ve seen this on a small scale at the beaches on the West Coast where my mom lives. 🙂
