Fortunes Worth Reading

14 Comments/ 92/ 1

It’s been over a year since I posted one of my fortune cookie posts and as I was cleaning out my wallet of approximately 45 and a half pounds of change I decided it was about time to do another installment.  I keep my fortunes in with my change and they added another 1/2 pound to the weight of my wallet so it was time.  Past time.

Fortunes from fortune cookies can vary. Some are witty. Some are insightful.  Some are just plain dumb.

There, I said it.

Yes, some make absolutely no sense whatsoever but I can not let a fortune cookie go past me without reading the fortune.

So the fortunes I found in my wallet are below. Tell me which one is your favorite in the comments for one last comment for Free Rein.

1.Take your time today so you won’t walk in mud.

2. Hone your competitive instincts.

3.Take no risks with your reputation.

4. All the preparation you’ve done will finally be paying off!

5. You are going to travel somewhere far away. (This was right before our trip to Croatia so it was true.)

6. Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want.

7. An encounter with a friend will lead to a special bond.

8. You will be the guest of a gracious host.

9.Something will surprise you tomorrow.

10. Finish your works on hand. Don’t be greedy.

11. You could prosper in a few years in the field of entertainment.

12. You will receive a compliment from a stranger.

13. You will receive happy news this week.

14. Give a hug to someone who needs one more than you do.

Favorite fortune you have ever received in a fortune cookie?  Tell me about it in the comments section and 50 cents will go to support Free Rein Therapeutic Riding here in Brevard, NC.

They are all great!! My all time favourite is Experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want. Perfect! Should be stuck on my fridge. I´m sure your wallet feels much lighter now.

I love that one, Darlene. It is perfect and one that is a great reminder that every thing can be learned from, right?

I choose #1 for its creativity and #6 for the positive in the negative.

I woke up this morning thinking how I need to clean out my pocketbook. Like yours, it is so full of change in the bottom that I can hardly lift it! Love reading all of your fortunes! Happy Thursday ~

Have to agree with you – sometimes fortune cookie sayings are just plain dumb, but these are good ones! Along with some of your readers, #6 is my favorite too.

One I’ve found several times used to puzzle others as well as me until we read it out loud: “The best profit of future is the past.” It comes so close to making sense as spelled that it took me a while to realize they meant “prophet.”

I haven’t had a good fortune in a long time and honestly couldn’t remember one even if I tried. Some of these are pretty interesting. 🙂

I like “Something will surprise you tomorrow,” too! I used to tell my students that if they didn’t learn something new each day, they might as well have stayed in bed! There is something “surprising” every day if you will just look for it! ~ Lynn

Ha! I understand how change builds up. According to the news, more people need to follow #3. I’m hanging in there for #4 to come true. 😀
