George and Gertie – My Canada Geese Friends

19 Comments/ 3541/ 2

Remember George and Gertie?  My Canada geese friends who have been hanging out in our yard?  I wrote about them here.   It happened.  What we had anticipated happened and I am over the moon excited.

I came  home from Las Vegas and my BAM Conference  and squealed with delight when I saw that there were now babies that had been born in my absence.

They are cute and fuzzy and adorable. Here they come up from our dock.G & G 16Proud parents.

Yes–this is one of the feeders that the black bear knocked over earlier this week at around 1 am.  I am carefully watching that I don’t keep these filled up now and taking the ones on the deck in at night.  G & G 5

There is so much yummy stuff to find on the ground!G & G 10

They let me get fairly close but I did use a zoom lens with these because I didn’t want to spook them. They are babies, after all, and I want them to keep coming back! 🙂

They are very protective and can be a little bit mean but it is understandable to keep them safe.

That is so awesome. They looked so comfortably (and safe) in your yard. Did they let you get close or did you use a long lens?

They are adorable. I can get fairly close to them but I did zoom in on these shots so I would not scare them. I stayed on the deck and watched the action.

Jake would be so scared of the bear. If we visit he better wear his bear bells.Lovely little bird family:)

So adorable! Looks like the father sticks around for a while too. 🙂
It’s terrific that you’ll have a chance to see them grow into beautiful geese.

Darling! What an interesting nature lesson you are getting to watch. I wouldn’t care for the poop, either, though….
