Getting My Toes in the Sand – Almost

15 Comments/ 61/ 1

I so miss our trips to the beach. Normally I would have been at the beach several times already this year with a trip or two coming up before the end of the year. Doggone it. We had to cancel my birthday trip to Bermuda and several other trips to other beaches because of Covid-19. I am trying to not complain about it but it is one of my favorite places to be.

I am trying to enjoy a virtual beach scene instead and thanks to my talented niece, Carla Jo, I am one step closer.

Awhile ago I found this afghan on a blog that I absolutely loved. I asked Carla if she thought she could crochet it and she said it didn’t look too hard so if I got the yarn she would attempt it. Well – I would say she succeeded. I got my beach in a box last week and love it.

Of course I had to promptly put it away because…Maksim. Those turtles are not safe with him around but I had already decided this was my “Take on Beach Vacation Afghan” so it will be safely packed away from sharp claws and teeth. Of course I could not get a picture of it without cats on it.

Isn’t it just adorable? I love it so much.

If you are interested in the pattern it was a freebie – just click on this link to go directly to the blog post where you can get all the details.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow where would you go? Beach? Mountains? City? Country? I would love to hear about it in the comments. Remember that each comment this month means a 50 cent donation to our Comments for a Cause – United Way for Iowa Derecho Relief.

That is amazing. I can do very basic crocheting but have always wanted to get better at it. Love the starfish and turtles. Definitely very beachy. I miss the mountains – so much and can not wait for Thanksgiving.

These are strange times and aside from dumping a truckload of sand in my living room this seemed like the easier and better solution to my beach longings.

Evidently, cats love the beach and are missing it too. 😉 That afghan is so cute and ‘purrfect’ for you!
