Frankoma Teapot on Teapot Tuesday

10 Comments/ 59/ 1

You may remember that I like teapots.  Just a little bit.  My love of teapots started years ago and has kind of grown over the years. When people find out that I collect them they start looking for them for me. Sometimes I get pictures.  Sometimes I get texts with pictures.  Sometimes I get “pins” on Pinterest and sometimes, yes sometimes, I even get an actual surprise teapot from one of my friends or followers.

Back in my Iowa living days (can it really be 5 years since we moved to North Carolina?) I asked my friend Jeni to go to Webster City for a morning shopping trip.  The city was kind enough to sponsor the North Iowa Bloggers trip one day years ago  and I was itching to go back so I drug Jeni from Jeni Eats along with me and we stopped in at SOS Vintage again.  You may recall I found a lovely teapot there on my first visit.

This trip I was not disappointed as I found a few treasures there that ended up in my car coming home.  The first is this magnificent Frankoma Aztec Prairie Green Teapot that I am in love with.  Just look at the details on this baby.  I love that Frankoma pottery is made in the United States (Located in Oklahoma) with locally sourced clay.  That makes it truly American made.

The other item I bought was this sweet tea chest.  I am not sure where I am going to put it or what I am going to do with it but don’t you love it?  Thanks to Denise of SOS Vintage for snapping the picture of Jeni and myself with my sweet purchase. I miss Jeni. I miss my Iowa friends but I don’t miss the winters one bit. Hope this finds you well and healthy. I love a good sturdy pottery teapot! The fact that this one is created and made in America is even more special. I honestly think tea tastes better in a good teapot. Please don´t serve me tea in a stainless steel teapot. (which is why I seldom order tea in a restaurant) Live love love the quote. Thanks!

Oh those stainless steel are the worse, aren’t they? I totally agree with you on that!

I remember seeing lots of Frankoma pottery when we lived in Oklahoma. That red clay that dominates a good portion of the state is good for something!

I have a couple in my collection and they are sturdy and great brewing pots.

That is a lovely teapot and one that I could imagine using quite often. I’ve been on the look out for one at one of the pottery places I live up in Boone. So far no luck but I’ve added some other things to my pottery collection. 🙂

I am sure Boone has a lot of really great pottery just like we have around here. I honestly have not added to my collection much from around here but I need to, don’t I?

The tea chest was a fun find, wasn’t it? I have it in my living room and it reminds me of a fun trip.
