Glacier National Park – A Drive to the Top

22 Comments/ 101/ 1

Chris and I have been able to spend a couple of wonderful days in Glacier National Park in Montana.  Weather is always iffy in this area in October and we were not sure what we would find.

The following two videos were taken as we were driving through the park.  The first one shows beautiful aspens and lovely mountain and valley views.

The second one shows a bit of a different view as we climbed to the highest part of the park.

Here are just a few quick pictures of more of the beauty of the park.  It really is amazing and yes—there will be many more posts to come sharing our amazing trip.1

I love Glacier. I’m not so sure I’d love it as much in the second video, though. Knowing the hairpin turns on that road, I’d be scared witless in that weather. Fortunately, there seemed to be very little traffic.

Chris was driving, obviously, and I was watching the road. 🙂 We have driven in some pretty dicey conditions and this was one of them but he did well. I am officially in love with Glacier. It is the prettiest park and not as jam packed as Yellowstone.

Living most of my life in Alberta and BC, I have spent many happy times in this park. It is truly amazing and so glad you enjoyed it. I did try to stay away in the cold months but got caught in the snow a few times too.

I did not even think about the fact that you lived close enough to Glacier to pop over now and then. I did love it and even though there was a little snow it was still beautiful.

Wow. Just wow. I’ve never been there. It’s stunning! The aspen are beautiful, just glowing. The whole thing is beautiful. Though I wouldn’t be happy driving up a mountain in the fog like that!

You would love it here, I bet, Dawn. It is so beautiful and yes–the aspens are amazing. I don’t think you can really understand until you see them in person. They are stunning.

Yep–that white stuff was snow and they got even more after we left. Winter has arrived in Glacier.

Lived here 3 years and haven’t made it to Glacier yet. And there was snow on the ‘hills’ 6 blocks up the street from me in Helena this week. I still have green tomatoes on the vine!

We were in Glacier National Park in May. It is beautiful! We were unable to do the Road to the Sun. Too much snow and it was closed. But, still enjoyed enjoyed the park.

We waited till the afternoon so we could do The Road to the Sun and even then as you can tell it was a bit dicey at times. They are getting more snow now so we made it just in a nick of time.

All beautiful except the snow. I’ve never been further west than a mile into Wyoming…

Well it doesn’t surprise me you haven’t been farther west than that. There is so much to see out west and it is quickly becoming my favorite next to North Carolina.

Oh my, those are beautiful sights, especially the horses. Love this time of year, even if all I can do is enjoy it by proxy! 😊
