I Am Not Andrew

9 Comments/ 81/ 0

I have a phone number that a lot of people seem to want to call or text. My most frequent wrong number/text one is one for Stephen who apparently owns some property on Maple Road that everyone wants. I can not tell you. how many times I have gotten. messages for Stephen. In the beginning I would respond with a text saying “I am not Stephen” but they just texted or called from a different number. It’s a tad annoying and I wish Stephen would just get his own phone number.

The other morning I woke up to a text that came in after I had gone to bed.

I didn’t respond to it but later in the day another text came through so I thought I should let them know that I was not Andrew.

I didn’t want to start up a big chat but it’s not in my nature to not respond to an apology.

But then he texted again and I decided enough was enough.

Chris just read that the next update for iPhones will have the ability to mark text messages as Scam just like you can now do with calls. I can’t wait.

Do you have a number that folks misdial? Our home number is close to the local bakery number so sometimes we get calls for them but honestly – that doesn’t bother me too much. It’s all these other weird ones. Tell me what you think and leave me a comment today.

Oh my gosh- no, that has never happened to me. Sorry it’s happening to you. I guess you’re not inviting the people for Thanksgiving! (You’ve heard that story, haven’t hit?)

You are kinder than I am! When I get weird texts from numbers I don’t recognize, I automatically block those on my cell. I never respond because I figure they aren’t legit. Years ago, when we lived in Kansas City, our home phone number was one digit away from a retail store. Oh, that was annoying — got calls almost every day!

This has happened to me once or twice but a quick “I’m not so and so” usually stops it – I also usually block the numbers these messages come from.
    Hope Andrew is ok though!

Hmmmm, this all sounds rather suspicious. I block numbers I don’t recognize and don’t respond to any questionable tests.

We have a lot of Amis who live by us. We get phone calls from people wanting to know when the boots they ordered are going to arrive. Found out that they forget to dial the area code. So they get us. We c have sold more shoes and boots.

Reminds me of the story about the kid who texted a wrong number to a grandmother and they struck up a friendship, and now he comes to Thanksgiving dinner each year??? Remember that one? I’ve been writing poetry these days, and this just feels like a story, more than spam. I hope that the wrong numbers are fewer and far between now, but this sorta has a story written all over.

My cell phone periodically gets calls from a medical office reminding people they need to keep their appointments. I have to callback and try to explain how they might want to contact the ACTUAL patients,. Once, years ago, my land line got a message about rescheduling someone;s surgery.

That’s too funny! Not a cell phone, but years ago, Motor Man kept getting a wrong number on his house phone. Always looking for “Arsenious”. After many, many times of telling the caller that he had the wrong number, finally one day, Motor Man said: “Didn’t you hear? Arsenious died.”. Never got another call for Arsenious Of course, I’ve often said I would have loved to see the caller’s face the next time they actually SAW Arsenious!
