“I have never met a person whose greatest need was anything other than real, unconditional love. You can find it in a simple act of kindness toward someone who needs help. There is no mistaking love…it is the common fiber of life, the flame that heats our soul, energizes our spirit and supplies passion to our lives.”
Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
Isn’t that quote above amazing?
I think we all have probably felt the weight of the world on our shoulders. What with fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters we are left shaken to our core.
Add in the horrific events that occurred earlier this week in Las Vegas and honestly I am left scared to turn on the news. I woke up the other morning and said to Chris ” I wonder what the horrible news will be this morning”. Fortunately there was no new crisis that was reported but still I wonder what will happen next.
The story is told that Fred Rogers of the popular children’s television show Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood advised his viewers to “always look for the helpers” in times of crisis. I have seen that quote repeated time and time again as our world finds its way from one tragedy to the next.
There are a lot of helpers out there in the world and this quote above by Elizabeth Kübler-Ross reminds me that in difficult times it is so important to show love, true and unconditional love, to one another. Nothing can replace that feeling of being truly and deeply cared for.
During these difficult days I find that it is so much easier for me to bear the heartache and sadness if I myself reach out in love and compassion towards others. A simple act of kindness can turn the tide and change the trajectory of the day. It does not have to be anything huge. A simple act will do. You all do them all of the time but perhaps concentrating and being intentional in your efforts will be especially helpful during these difficult times.
Today show someone you love them.
Do a kindness.
Share some love.
Go out of your way.
Remember that this is something that Jesus modeled and we are to follow in His footsteps.
You are loved. More than you know.
Thanks for stopping by today. You have blessed ME with your comments and your kindness to me.

Leave a commentBeth Ann, this is a very inspiring post and absolutely true. The important thing in life is to focus on the goodness and to remember that there is more good than evil.
Thank you Bernadette. I Think you are so correct that there is so much more good than evil in the world. We just have to take time to look for those things and not focus on the negative. Thank you as always for stopping by!
Yes….the world, indeed, needs “love”….but not the kind whose definition does not call for the needed change (in situation, attitude, choices, etc). The world has re-defined that word, weakened it, to mean all-accepting, non-judgmental application that would, in actuality, allow some unhealthy situations/lifestyles to continue in their destructive direction. There is still the freedom to reject this “tough love” that’s offered but, offered it must be……”tough” and firm, unwavering love that wants nothing but (His) best.
As always, an insightful and thoughtful comment. Thanks, Doreen!:-)
If everyone tried to do one simple act of kindness a day, how the world would change.
Yes indeed!
You do such a great job of spreading love with your inspiring and joyful posts. It is all we can do. Spread love, hope and joy and good will prevail.
Thanks, Darlene. We all do what we can do in our little corner of the world.
I love this so much. I have seen evidence of the good that happens when unconditional love is poured out. Great blog! Love you !
Love you, Virginia! I know you have seen the evidence of unconditional love.
At the end of this difficult week, we all needed to read this and be reminded that we each, individually, have the power to make a positive difference. Something as simply as an “I love you” text can bring joy to someone.
You are exactly right! I got an ” I love you ” text this morning from Micah. Made my morning.
Love this! Love you! Have a great day!!! ❤️
Love you back! Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
Amen! Sending a hug!
Thanks!!! I needed that hug!
Awww, I continue to be left in awe of your optimism & feeling. Don’t change a thing. You are a beacon of light in an otherwise dark & dank place!
Aren’t you just so sweet? Thank you!
Love you Beth!
Love you back!!!! 🙂
Since it’s for a good cause, I’ll bite…I’m the one who hates it when people think they’re doing me a big favor…even when they’re donating money in aid of my cats. If you really want to be nice to me, you show appreciation (preferably via money) for something *I* do.
(Posted from a whole little town where the Gimmee Monster appears to be killing my generation’s souls by inches. They get that free stuff! They want to make donations! They’ve become wary of natural healthy give-and-take, and they’re not pleasant to be among, at all.)
I understand what you are saying – sometimes I am a “do gooder” and maybe I need to take another look at that. I always want to be able to make a difference, to change a situation for someone but it is not always possible. Your comments on your little town make me want to sit down and think a little more on the subject. Thanks for stopping by.
