Road Trips and Conference Calls

12 Comments/ 2923/ 0

When Chris (AKA Mr. Diamond) and I go on a road trip we have fun.  We try to get off the beaten path and explore things on our own.

Lately a lot of our trips have been combined work / pleasure trips which suits me fine.  I have no problem being part of his work if it means I get to go along with him to some fun places.

Recent trip to Florida included a lot of beach visits.

Recent trip to Florida included a lot of beach visits.

I know a lot of people do not understand what Chris does, why he travels as much as he does and what our life is like but let me tell you –it is a good life.  The travel gets a bit wearing at times but when I can go along I KNOW that I provide much needed entertainment.

Like bellowing at the top of my lungs as I drive to the 7’s on 70 Sirius station.  It’s pretty, don’t you know?  After all I was a Glenn Tone in a former life.

I also serve as chauffeur quite often –sometimes it just makes much more sense for me to do the driving and as long as the GPS is on target I do okay.  Now there have been times when that hasn’t been the case and don’t ever get Chris started on how we ended up in a barnyard when we were dating thanks to my inaccurate directions.

Chris also likes to stop to eat at local spots along the way on our trips and on our most recent trip he asked me to Yelp a place to eat twice.  Both times the directions were not right.  Both times.  I am not good at Yelping I guess.  We never did find the one place.

But probably what amuses me most is when Chris has conference calls when I am driving.  I hear his end of the conversations and it almost always amuses me.  This is when I get many of his Chrisisms (and yes it is about time for another Chrisism post) and they make me giggle.

Conference calls can take on a life of their own and depending upon the subject at hand the tone can be upbeat or quite the opposite.  I must admit that when I worked for Chris he was always a very kind and tolerant boss. That is until he fired me but that is a story for another day.

But what makes me laugh the most is the song that plays on UberConference before everyone gets on the call.  Chris allows me to enjoy the music before he goes to his headset so I thought I would share just a quick clip of it with you today.  Please note that I just hit video to record it when my phone was in the holder in the car so no stunning video but an amusing portion of the song that plays.  I think you will agree that their music is pretty amusing.

So tell me—have you been on conference calls that seem to go nowhere?  What is your favorite conference call story if you have one?  Make sure you leave a comment  –every comment means a 50 cent donation to our current Comments for a Cause NFED.

That is one funny song! It is so great that you can go along on some of your hubby´s business trips. I´m sure it makes t a lot more fun for him too. I´m not a fan of conference calls but they are a necessary evil in today’s business world. I did do a conference Skype with mom (in Alberta) and my daughter (in BC) at Christmas and that was cool.

The whole song is so funny. I have made him play the whole thing for me because it makes me laugh so much. Anyone who has been on one of the endless conference calls that seem to go nowhere understands how sometimes they are not the favorite part of a job. Now a call with family is totally different!

🙂 That was banned from my blog. I do allow him censorship sometimes. It actually is not as bad as it sounds….well….maybe it is. 🙂

Loved the song. I enjoy going to conferences with Tom although it only happens once a year. He has to work all day and I get to see the sights or goof off.

The song makes me laugh—it is pretty ingenious in my humble opinion and goes on and on so till folks pick up on the calls. I love going with Chris and am happy that our lives are such that I can do it as often as I do.
