Silver Love on Teapot Tuesday

9 Comments/ 82/ 1
Silver teapots are beautiful and not one that I really use very often but today’s teapot has special memories for me.
When we were preparing for our move to North Carolina from Iowa 3 years ago we had a lot of “stuff” to sort through.  We had a dumpster delivered to toss any items into that are simply not usable.  We had a huge table of giveaway items in the garage that friends came and picked through before it got hauled off to the local thrift shop.  Our neighborhood was abuzz about what was going on after pick up trucks, vans and even a full sized semi truck pulled up to our house to take unwanted items away.

But one of the best things was  discovering teapots that I had stashed away and forgotten about.  Case in point- this beautiful silver one complete with cream and sugar pieces that came from Chris’s parents’ house.

Isn’t it beautiful?  Chris’s dad had it all wrapped up in silver cloth so there is not a spot of tarnish on it anywhere even though it has been stored this way for at least 6 years.

There is a matching coffee pot with the set as well and I love that this is a piece of history from Chris’s family that I can have and cherish forever.

The lids feature a cute little knob that adds to the beauty of the pieces and I think it just makes a statement, don ‘t you?

There is just nothing like a cup of tea to calm my frazzled soul and lately I have been turning to tea more and more often.  I think it is the perfect answer to dealing with stressful days.  You just cannot be stressed when you brew the perfect cup of tea and enjoy sipping it.  It is the perfect cure to stress for me.

Enjoy your day today and help yourself to cup of tea as well.

Tea Tips

Suggested ration is one teaspoon of leaves per cup of water. Some light teas like oolong, white and greens may taste better with twice that ration.

Use boiling water (212 degrees F) when preparing black, dark oolong, light oolong and white teas.

Do not steep your tea longer than recommended or it will taste bitter.

Black: 5 minutes

Dark Oolong and White: 7 minutes

Light Oolong and Green:  3 minutes

There is nothing like a silver tea service and this one is special as it reminds you of your in-laws. I like the sleek lines and the unique knob that looks like an acorn. Good tips on brewing tea, boiling water for black and hot (not boiling) water for green.

What a beautiful set, made even more special by those family connections. We have a railroad teapot which Randy salvaged from the trash pile on his native North Dakota farm. His sister had it replated a number of years ago and, after decades, Randy got it back.

Just going through the process of making the tea calms and relaxes me so that I can savor every sip! I cherish my silver teapot that a family friend brought me from Germany. It comes with a little tea warmer stand that you can put a tea light in. It’s pretty and useful!
