Snow in the Mountains

11 Comments/ 87/ 0

We had a somewhat unexpected snow event on Friday and it ruined my plans. Cue the sad music, right? I had planned to head to Mooresville to spend some time with my friend, Ann, and go to an event at my former church but it was not to be. I was super disappointed but there were many signs that it was not a good idea to travel.

First flakes as I was getting ready to pack up.
Within minutes the landscape was changing to white.
Note from our POA sealed the deal for me.
Three cars stacked up in the yard next to ours by the road we drive out.
This really made me know that I needed to stay put.
Plowing the streets and a car trying to follow up the hill behind the plow.
Not sure if they made it that time or not.
One of our neighbors from Florida had Crocs as a shoe choice.
It proved to not be a good choice.
It was very pretty.
Our house in the snow.
A selfie in the snow of course.

Once I made the decision (or rather once the snow made the decision for me) to not venture out I settled in for the day, read some books, snuggled cats, made soup and enjoyed my unplanned snow day. Sometimes plans get changed. Life happens. Snow happens. I have tried to learn to deal with disappointment and roll with the punches. The good news? It was all gone by the next day and life continued on. We have temperatures in the 60’s expected this week.

The even better news? I have an epic road trip planned with Ann at the end of the month so even though we weren’t able to do this we have more fun ahead. Stay tuned. It is really going to be epic.

Hows the snow in your area? Tell me all about it in the comment section and Comment for a Cause – WWF for Australia Wildfire Recovery.

A wise choice to stay put. Snow is pretty but can be scary if you are out in it. Your road trip sounds like fun!!

I do like the first fluffy snow of the season but we have had it now so I am hoping that will be it for the year! And the road trip—it involves books –imagine that!

You definitely made the right decision based on warnings and photos. Did you feel like you were back in Iowa?

I think you got more snow than we did in Michigan! And you definitely are more hilly than we are where I live. Snow and hills do not mix.

The snow was really pretty but I was happy that it didn’t last long. Our driveway is impossible to get up in the bad weather.

Snow days are good for snuggling up with a good book and a hot cup of tea, and I’m glad you played it safe. We woke up Sunday to a few inches of snow and it just kept coming. Nevertheless, we continued on with our plans to go into the city for the day where there was no snow at all. After a full day, we headed home in 52 degree weather and surprisingly enough, all of those inches of snow were totally melted by the time we arrived home. Weird weather for sure!
