Sometimes You Just Need a Big Ole Bowl of Chex Mix

12 Comments/ 91/ 0

Chex Mix. Party Mix. Whatever you call it it is sometimes the answer to what ails me and this past week it was. I ordered all my missing ingredients on Amazon (gotta love how many Amazon boxes I have recycled since March) and before long I had a big ole bowl of Chex Mix.

Why does that matter? In the big scheme of things it really doesn’t but instead of doing one more post about Covid – 19 and how it is seriously bumming me out I channeled my supreme culinary capabilities and made some Chex Mix. Did it solve anything?

Nope, not one thing.

But it made me feel better and provided me with some comfort that I was craving at that particular time.

Chex Mix was always a thing in my family but normally it was around Christmas time that it became a thing. Imagine my excitement when I realized it was NOT a seasonal snack but something that I could enjoy anytime I wanted to. Hallelujah!

Of course there are a million variations on the original Chex Mix recipe including the lovely sweet and chocolatey Puppy Chow but for me the original savory version is best.

This week is going to be a good one . I can feel it in my bones. A trip to the Biltmore with a friend to see the Rose Garden and the long awaited hair cut and color after 3 months will hopefully help me feel a little bit more presentable.

And endless Chex Mix. Those boxes make a lot. What are your plans for the week? I would love to hear all about them in the comments. Remember to Comment for a Cause for NAMI . Great idea Beth! The homemade kind is so much better than the bags of Chex mix!

This is the week I plan to change it up. It is time to find new or other ways.
I love Chex mix and it takes me back in time when I made huge batches in the big blue roasting pan.

I haven’t had Chex Mix for ages! Homemade would be the best plus you can add your own twist to it. Dill salt?
We have a new popcorn maker, and I like it, I suspected the microwave stuff was unhealthy but really just like doing it on the stove. Otherwise I just have popcorn at the movies and that form of entertainment seems to be gone now. Now I can have my popcorn while I binge on Netflix. Best wishes – David

I LOVE popcorn! Did you get one of those Whirly Gig ones? My sister has one of those and swears by it. I have a microwave popper that i use that I am pretty hooked on but of course I have to add butter and seasoning as well to make it a bit unhealthy. 🙂

If the whirly gig looks like a pot with a handle on top, I got a whirly gig ! ♥
I have to have butter and little salt also. It’s the unwritten law. – David

Chex Mix – a must have in our family. Always at Christmas time but other times of the year as well when our family gathers together. I’m getting my hair cut this week too– finally! And boy, oh boy, can I just say how GLAD I am that I stopped getting my hair colored 2 years ago and let it be naturally gray/white??? Oh YES.
