After the rain finally went away we were itching to get out and be outdoors. After doing a few errands in town we headed to Sycamore Flats in Pisgah National Forest. The area has a huge picnic area that we often see from the other side of the river when we hike the Ecusta Trail. We weren’t up for much hiking this weekend due to my dislocated pinky toe (don’t ask) but we could at least do a little walking

We found buckeyes everywhere and being the good Ohioan I had to photograph them.

There are still some splashes of color in the flowers along the way and I always love to see the different varieties growing in the natural areas.

Of course the forest itself always draws me in. The trees, the textures, the smells and sounds – they all envelop me and make me feel that all is well in the world.

Hope you enjoyed your little walk through the woods with me today. Take some time to smell the air – fall is coming.

We are vacationing in Moab, UT and Fall has not arrived 🙁 . It’s been in the upper 80’s -lower 90’s every day! Moving to another location tomorrow and it’s supposed to be a little cooler.
My brother lives in Yuma and it is always 100 degrees plus . I can’t do that anymore! I bet you are having a great time!!! Enjoy!
I am SO ready for fall! Of course, I am ready every year since it’s my favorite season of all.
What great pictures to help get us ready for Fall. There is sometime about the sounds, smells and looks of the forest. I enjoy it too.
So pretty. I miss the woods and the hills and the mountains and streams and waterfalls and everything… thanks for sharing.
Lovely place. I remember picking up buckeyes on my way to school when we used to walk to school, about 100 years ago. In the fall always had one in my pocket, loved to rub them in my fingers for some reason. Good memories!
Reminding me that Ohio’s not that far from here, either. We have buckeyes and the first few autumn leaves, red carpets of buckeye leaves, on the ground here in Virginia too.
