Teapot Tuesday – Meet Pete

16 Comments/ 81/ 1

Welcome to Teapot Tuesday.   Today’s offering is a new tea infuser that was pointed out to me by my future daughter in law.  She sent me a link and of course I HAD to have him.  Pete looked like the perfect steeper so I put him right to work.

Pete comes apart and splits in half so you can fill one side with loose tea.  I chose a nice darjeeling for his initial use.

Pete took a loooooonnnnnnnggggggg time to steep.  My usual steeping time of 3 and a half minutes was not nearly long enough – the tea was weak and pale so I left Pete to his job for a couple minutes longer.  I suspect his holes need to be a little bit bigger in order for the brewing time to be less.

When I finally took Pete out and enjoyed my tea it was lovely but the lesson here is that cute does not always equal the best infuser.   I do love Pete and he has a place in my heart now.  When I have plenty of time and am not in a hurry to brew my tea he will be my go to infuser.

After I took him out he left me a little puddle …

The first cup moistens my lips and throat. The second shatters my loneliness. The third causes the wrongs of life to fade gently from my recollection. The fourth purifies my soul. The fifth lifts me to the realms of the unwinking gods  .    Chinese mystic, Tang Dynasty

I love Pete and he is perfect for you! These type of infusers do take longer but they are so cute. He just needs to be house trained!!

Pete is perfect for me and I don’t really know how to house train him. The puddle kind of cracked me up and it was photo worthy for sure.

I didn’t . No shaming of dripping llamas here in this house. Puddles welcome as long as he brews good tea for me! Thanks for stopping by!

Well, I guess who could expect a llama to be potty trained? 😉

True, I guess I can’t expect him to not drip a little bit, right? He is worth it because he is so cute!

Lol. Pete is adorable. I have a manatee like this. He hangs over the side of the cup. But I didn’t use him that much either. Same issue. 🙂

I think the cute tea infusers like this have the same issue, right? I love that manatee one as well and there are more and more fun tea infusers out there. I have quite a collection by now.

Pete is so cute. I have a friend who likes sheep and llamas and I often include something of each in her Christmas package. Guess who will be there this year? I found Pete on Amazon. I will warn her about the longer steeping time and the puddle!

“The fifth cup of tea elevates me to the realm of the unwinking gods…” Proof that the Chinese poet ran on caffeine too?

Oh that’s a good one! And yes–perhaps the poet was caffeinated as well!
