There Is Beauty Everywhere – Even in Fungus

20 Comments/ 122/ 0

Nature amazes me.

Now it doesn’t really take much to amaze my little mind but sometimes I am truly taken aback by the beauty in our world.

Fed Ex left a package on my porch that belonged to a neighbor about 5 houses down our street.  Not sure why but it gave me a chance to take a little hike down the road to deliver it. As I walked down their driveway I saw this amazing tree with fungus growing all up and down the trunk.

It made me stop and take a second look. And then I had to take some photographs.

I really can’t pick a favorite out of these pictures because they all have really great parts in them.  The light may not have been perfect in all of them but I still love them.  Isn’t nature so cool?

Obviously you can tell we live in a very moist and rainy climate.  It is actually classified as a rainforest.  Chris did not really divulge that to me when we were buying our home but I guess I should have been smart enough to figure that out since every time we visited it rained.  Every. Single. Time.   (I never said I am observant.)

Nature continually intrigues me and these fungi were pretty darn captivating.  I am trying to open my eyes more, see the beauty all around me and on this dreary fall day I did find the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Tell me, have you seen anything extraordinary lately?  I would love to read about it in the comments so please Comment for a Cause.

Congratulations to Stephanie Loux for winning the Bedside Reading book giveaway!  Enjoy your books!

This is an amazing tree! We were out in the woods yesterday and saw one batch of fungus like this. I took one picture…it will probably show up in a blog sooner rather than later! 🙂 Your photos are great!

Mushrooms are so fascinating! There’s a mycology group here that has classes that always intrigued me.

Well that would be a very cool group to be a part of. I know nothing about them really–just that I like to look at them.

Nature IS very cool! One time at Ataghi Park I found a bright orange, huge mushroom. I think I have a picture of it somewhere…..

Oh I love the orange ones. Walking to Ataghi Park I have seen a huge cluster of orange ones down in a yard but didn’t trespass for pictures. 🙂

Fungus holds the same appeal for me. I would have been right there next to you photographing.

    A rainforest, huh?

Yep. You would have had your camera at the ready. And yes–we do live in a rainforest. Hard to believe but not all rainforests are in other countries. 🙂

Those are some cool photos! Nature is truly amazing and we need to take more time to notice it, don’t we?

Thanks! I agree that we all need to stop and slow down a bit more to look at what nature has to offer!

Oh wow—I finally got it on all levels. Very cool! It reminds me of an Italian cookie platter. Minus the sprinkles and cool nature effect.

I’ve seen those, but never in such profusion…I recently posted a snapshot of a big round yellow mushroom whose diameter was more than the length of my foot. That was in early November. It was just an ordinary mushroom, only much bigger.
