Waterfall Wednesday – Triple Falls

15 Comments/ 2830/ 0

I decided since I now live in Transylvania County – Land of Waterfalls- I should start a new feature on It’s Just Life featuring the waterfalls that we have been able to see in our new county.  Transylvania County boasts over 250 waterfalls so we have plenty to go see.  The first one we saw was one right here in our own neighborhood –-Connestee Waterfall.  You may remember I posted a brief post about being able to view this one from a viewing platform close by.  You can click here to look at that post.

DuPont State Recreational Forest is a wonderful place to go hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking and more.  I am in love with all that it offers and last week a new friend and I went for a morning hike and were able to view Triple Falls. With all of the massive rain lately the falls were really beautiful and the hike was just what I needed to clear the cobwebs out of my brain.  A little exercise and some great company and I was rejuvenated.

9 Triple Falls is the third of the Little River Falls and consists of three distinct cascades, totaling about 120′ in vertical drop. These are the falls that are featured in the classic The Last of the Mohicans.  More recently this area was featured in The Hunger Games.  “May the odds be ever in your favor.”

3We sat on a rock for a long time talking and just taking in the view and I took this shot which really does not do the waterfall justice at all because the sun was so bright but I still kind of liked the effect.

7Walking down the path to go back to the car I was struck by the water that rushed by. It was so beautiful and clear and this will be one of my favorite places to go.

11There is just something about water.  It draws me in.  Even though I am not a huge fan of water sports I love being near the water.  It soothes me somehow and it always makes me feel closer to God when I am surrounded by beautiful waterfalls, rivers, oceans or streams.

Chris and I are looking forward to exploring all of the waterfalls that we can get to and enjoying our new home state.  I hope my readers will like this new feature on my blog and join me whenever I can post a new waterfall adventure.

Don’t forget that I have a cute mug cozy giveaway going on .  Click here to read more.

The photos look great, Beth Ann! Don’t forget to mention High Falls as well. And you’ll have to do the hike we did yesterday and see those waterfalls – there are 2 waterfalls in Graveyard Fields, but we only went to 1. The hike was about 1.5 miles. We’re going again soon to do another trail there which is about 3.5 miles. Let us know if you want to join!

I love that you live in Trannsylvania country. The waterfalls are very beautiful. Fun to learn they filmed some of Hunger Games there.

I’m with you on water rushing over rocks. There’s something incredibly soothing about the sound.

That one is on our list. There are so many amazing places to go and we just have to stay home together long enough to do some of these things. But we have a lot of years to do it!
