What I Am Loving Lately

9 Comments/ 152/ 0

Time for another installment of things I am loving lately. You know inquiring minds want to know all the things that I am loving so today is your day.

I have been doing a ton of reading lately and have read a couple of really great books. First up- The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis. I loved, loved, loved this book. Set in the New York Public Library this book was one that had a great bit of history associated with it. A really quick and easy read but with an engaging story that made me sad when it ended. It is definitely one to read if you like stories about libraries and books and all that goes with that.

Another really fun book to read that I got as a Book of the Month Club selection is In A Book Club Far Away by Tif Marcelo.. Definitely not a deep or serious book but one that was fun to read nonetheless. Centered around a military spouse group and their book club this one made me smile and remember what being part of a military lifestyle can be like. That was many years ago but one that I cherish as I still have friends from those days who are a part of my life.

How about a Cold Foam Cold Brew from Dunkin Donuts? I found myself needing change for a $20 so I could give a tip to someone and the conundrum through this entire pandemic is having no cash. I had twenty dollar bills but that was way too much for a tip I needed later in the week. So I popped in the drive thru and instead of using my app to pay used cold hard cash so I could get change. I asked the barista for her recommendation and she suggested the Cold Foam Cold Brew and it is a winner! Slightly sweet foam with a nice iced coffee finish. It is now on my favorites list thanks to her. Bonus – I got my needed change in the denominations I wanted.

I had wanted to watch Nomadland for a while and finally Chris was home and we set a time to watch it. I loved it. That’s not to say I didn’t cry through it (I did) but it was really a well done movie and one that I was so happy I watched. Frances McDormand is such a wonderful actor and the story is especially moving. If you get a chance to watch it I would recommend it. It is on Hulu right now and in theaters. To read more about it click here.

I love listening to podcasts and have shared quite a few here that I like. When we lived in Mooresville, NC I got used to listening to the Ace and TJ Radio Show. Actually TJ and his wife Jodi attended our church when we lived there and I got to know them a little bit so of course when they decided to start their own podcast I had to follow. Their back and forth is fun and this one has definitely made me laugh out loud a lot. You can find it here.

I am loving these but actually they are not the ones that I thought I had gotten. I am helping with an Easter food drive here in Connestee Falls and purchased a few little bags to stick in for treats for those we are giving to. I got tempted and opened this little bag and realized these are NOT the ones I love. I think the ones I really like are the speckled ones below.

I will welcome any and all donations of these … they are more what I am looking for. But I can not guarantee that they will make it to the food drive. Just saying.

So tell me -what are you loving these days? Fill me in and Comment for a Cause for the Copeland Oaks Library. Read all about that here.

Happy Spring Beth Anne! Thanks for all the fun ideas- adding the Dunkin coffee to my “want” list! And the podcast! My book list is all ready long.

Putting the books on my to read list. We stayed in a hotel across from the library in NYC. It’s such an amazing place. Thanks for sharing these favorite things. I always like to be influenced! 🙂

Both books sound interesting. I´m reading Plunge, One Womans Pursuit of a Life Less Ordinary by Liesbet Collaert. I enjoy reading about people who live an adventurous life. She writes very honestly about living aboard a boat with her husband as they travel the seas together. That Cold Foam Cold Brew looks very good! xo

I really liked Nomadland too – there’s a newish Dunkin by our house – not too many in the Twin Cities yet. I love all the coffee choices and customizations plus the doughnuts are good too.

We follow several YouTube channels about couples that do full time RV-ing. That’s what we expected before watching Nomadland. We sure were surprised! It was very good (but darkish) and we talked about it for days and learned more about it.

Hugs! I took notes and will definitely look into the cold brew and the Fiona Davis book.

I am reading another Alexander McCall Smith book (I love the No 1 Ladies Detective Series) called “How to Raise an Elephant”. I have enjoyed two podcasts lately that you might also enjoy: 1. Under the Influence (interesting stories and trivia) 2. We regret to Inform You. (inspirational stories how people overcome rejection on the way to success)

What a diverse list of things to love. Randy loves Robin Eggs, his favorite Easter candy. Thanks for doing another food drive for your community.

It is fun to see some of the things we both like. The books look fun and interesting. I must admit I love the first bag of Easter eggs.
