Wild Horses of Corolla – Part Two

11 Comments/ 59/ 1

Yesterday I shared a few photos of our Outer Banks Trip to see the wild horses that roam the Corolla and Carova area beaches. I saved the best trip for the second post and that was our trip when we met up with Dianna and JR Keen. Dianna blogs at These Days of Mine, is a fabulous photographer and may just be a little bit crazy over these wild horses. She and her husband can frequently be seen driving the beach and residential areas of Carova looking for “their” horses.

I love how passionate she is about the herd and their well being and her support of the Corolla Wild Horse Fund which helps maintain the health and well being of the herd in this area is impressive. She has had several photographs featured in their yearly calendar and knows many of the employees and volunteers personally.

Raymond loves a good sand bath.

Raymond is sterile but that doesn’t keep him from loving being around all the ladies.

The day that we met them was a beautiful sunny day and the horses were showing off on the beach. It was not difficult to find them at all and we loved being able to go where our tour did not take us. We spent a great deal of time watching them and JR was the perfect tour guide and easily guided their 4 wheel drive vehicle everywhere we wanted to go. It is almost like he has done it before. (Maybe once or twice, right Dianna?)

Look at that baby!
Can you tell it was breezy from that tail floating in the wind?

I can see why these horses hold so much attraction. They are magnificent and to be able to watch them in their environment is such a gift. We were so happy to have a behind the scenes tour and hear all the extra information that our other tour did not include.

The lighting isn’t great on this one but I love it anyway.
Probably my favorite picture even if the lighting is off it makes a statement.

Plus they are just lovely and fun people so that made it a win win day. The horses were very cooperative and we loved our day on the beach.

Thanks again to Dianna and JR for the great day. We are waiting for you to come visit out area so we can show you “our” white squirrels. Make sure you check out her blog by clicking here.

Come back next week for more vacation fun including donuts, lighthouses and hunting lodges. Leave me a comment for Comments for a Cause – The Wounded Warrior Project.

Thank you so much! I had forgotten my good camera so my phone had to do the work for me this time and I got some surprisingly decent photos. Thanks for stopping by!
