Butterfly Butterfly

7 Comments/ 73/ 2

But these are flowers that fly and all but sing:

And now from having ridden out desire

They lie closed over in the wind and cling

Where wheels have freshly sliced the April mire.

Robert Frost, “Blue-Butterfly Day”

Some of the most beautiful creatures around are butterflies and they are especially brilliantly beautiful this year. Or maybe I am just appreciating things a little bit more these days. Chris and I saw several stunning displays of butterflies recently and the following ones were at the Depot gardens in Brevard when we stopped. The milkweed was loaded with fluttering leaves.

The Pollinator Garden in Connestee Falls at the overlook is another spot to stop to watch the beautiful butterflies. We don’t usually go in through the main gate but we often take a detour so we can stop and take in the garden and the view. Oh the view. On our last stop it appeared that this butterfly was posing for a photo op.

I hope you enjoyed looking at some of God’s most beautiful creatures today. As I look at them I am reminded of how these beautiful creatures begin as caterpillars and transform into something totally different. The butterfly gives me hope – so much hope. If a fuzzy caterpillar can be transformed into something that is so beautiful and that brings so much joy to the eyes that see it how can we not see that we can all be transformed into something beautiful? I like to believe that the butterfly is a reminder that we are all beautiful – our outward appearances are not what matters. It is what is inside. And just like those butterflies who transformed we are all beautiful inside. If you needed to read that today I am glad you stopped by, Beautiful You.

I love butterflies too. I took my grandson to a butterfly world when he was younger and we had such a great time. So much beauty all around us.

Thank you Beth. We can probably all agree that butterflies are charming, right? And they do help us connect to God. Also- sunsets! We have been enjoying gorgeous sunsets-now that makes you appreciate our awesome God, too!

I enjoy watching butterflies too. We have a butterfly bush that they love to munch on and over the years, I’ve taken some nice photos of those “flowers that fly.”

So beautiful. I love a good butterfly garden and seeing all the different types there are. We have a big butterfly garden/exhibit near by. I’ve never been but heard it’s amazing.

Beautiful photos! I’m reminded of the quote that goes something like: “Just when the caterpillar thought it was the end of the world, it became a butterfly”.
