Home.
Home is a lot of different places for a lot of people. It can be a specific place. It can actually be a lot of places.
The definition of home is so different for different people.
This past weekend Chris and I went home. Kind of.
We made a last minute decision to go back to one of our former churches for Heritage Sunday. The main reason was to see our friend, Jessica, who was preaching for the service on Sunday. She was our Duke intern way back in 2003 and 2004 and we loved her. When she messaged me and asked if we were coming it was a quick discussion and a quicker decision.
Of course we loved being back and being with all of our Fair View United Methodist friends. It really was like going home. This was the place where we found friends who are still our very close friends today. We were all going through parenting together and that is definitely something that bonds.
I loved hearing Jess preach. I loved being with friends. I loved being in a building that was where I grew as a Christian.
I did great until we sang the closing song that we always sang: “An Irish Blessing”. I must admit I had a few tears during that one.
I didn’t take many pictures and I wish I had taken more of people but we did get this shot of Judy, Ann and myself.

Do you have a place that feels like home (other than your current home) that you like to visit? I would love to hear all about it so leave me a comment and Comment for a Cause. for Muddy Sneakers.

Leave a commentAlways great to go home. I think home is where you get a warm feeling when you are there. I’m going there myself right now. Love and hugs.
Ann looks a lot like an Ann I know who is a minister in Mississippi. I don’t feel like I have a home in the historical sense any more. I always felt home was wherever my parents were.
I totally understand . Hugs 🤗.
You know which place feels like home to me! ⛰😍
After all this time visiting the mountains and the Boone area, I have not tired of it and this summer I had the chance to share my love of the area with my sister and nieces. It was the best!
What a wonderful homecoming for you. I was just “back home” on Tuesday in my native southwestern Minnesota. I wish we had stayed overnight and made it a two-day visit. There was so much more I wished I could have seen, people I could have visited. But we did stop at the cemetery to see my parents’ tombstone. I stood there in the hilltop cemetery and finally cried over Mom’s death.
So glad you were able to go home and be able to finally grieve. It’s a long process.
So great to have you and Chris “home!”
It was so good to have you home, even if it was a short time❤️❤️
Going home no matter where it a blessing.
