Humming Along on Teapot Tuesday

18 Comments/ 225/ 0

I have one of the best husbands in the world — hands down.  Today’s teapot has a story as do most of the teapots in my collection.

5 years ago in August my father in law passed away.  I had been splitting my time between Ohio and Iowa in an effort to help out with his care and with my brother in law Carlton.  Chris and I were able to move back into the family house for about 5 months after his death to take care of things but before we did that we had a little getaway to Chicago on the way home to Iowa.

It wasn’t a big trip but just a stop over for a couple of nights to kind of reset ourselves and prepare for what was ahead.  We did some sightseeing and a little shopping and with that shopping came a teapot.

This one is most likely my most expensive teapot in my collection .  I know it at least has carried the most expensive price tag.

Isn’t it a beauty?  I have shared it before but it is worth sharing again, don’t you think? teapot3

I have not brewed a single pot of tea in this one yet and it resides in the china cabinet that Chris’s dad refinished which seems fitting.  One of these days I will brew a pot and say a toast to my father in law in a fitting manner.

I knew as soon as I looked at the close up that it is Bernardaud. I am fortunate to have Bernardaud china and the work produced by this company is in a category far removed from the ordinary.

Really? Then I should be over the moon, right? I honestly had not heard of Bernardaud before I got this teapot and I am in love with it. I can only imagine how beautiful your china is, Bernadette!

This one is s a beauty and what a nice reminder of your father-in-law. Why do we always find it hard to make tea in the very beautiful teapots? I am the same. <3

I am glad to know that I am not alone in that reluctance to brew in my most prized teapots. Silly, isn’t it? Meant to be used and loved so I will change that!

This is a beautiful visual reminder of your father-in-law. The nature scenes elicit a sense of peace, of calm, of comfort.

Oh, how elegant. It is so beautiful, and the memory of how you came to have it just make it more special.

Beautiful teapot. I’m sorry you lost your father-in-law. I like the idea of using to say a toast someday.

I don’t remember this one, Beth Ann, but it has been awhile. I do remember that time, so I was following your blog then. I’m glad you shared it again, it is a beauty!
