Idioms. Funny word but one that carries with it a lot of great images in my mind. Today please join me as I share a few of my favorites. Feel free to add your own in the comments—I would love to hear what your favorites are! If you forgot what an idiom is here is what Wikipedia says is the definition:
a combination of words that has a figurative meaning owing to its common usage.

- Go out on a limb.

Leave a commentHa! These are great. I remember hearing some of these for the first time when I was first learning English and they didn’t make any sense. Now I use them and don’t even think about it. 😏

I loved teaching idioms to students learning English as a Second Language. We had a lot of laughs trying to explain what these sayings meant. I remember leaving the class early one day as I had a dentist appointment. I was running late and as I rushed out of the classroom, one student shouted, “Break your leg!”

That’s a pretty inclusive list, impressive really in the number of idioms out there.
